Crispy duck with a twist Smile Dec 14, 2013

The interior decor set in ancient china era. I like it very much!! (ps: I used to suspect I was born in a wrong century). The service was acceptable. not as attentive as would be ideal but generally polite and well groomed staff. This dish i had here was delectable. by default, i enjoy duck meat. memories of the thin crispy skin still make me drool mad And the glutinous rice was rather fragrant.

Food to comfort me OK Dec 12, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

lol They served gyozas in soup here.. very good comfort food! With the rainy cold weather now, hot soup is the best warmer for my after work physical state. Here, the broth was rich and fragrant but a bit salty for me. Oh! I like it that the serving had lots of bean sprouts too.

If you are having a main dish, then this soup can be shared between two pax IMO. I also like the several condiments laid out on my table. i hv a mild fetish for trying diff condiments on food mad

The staff here were generally young, polite and helpful. however they are very busy so you do need to voice out if you want assistance.

Creamy Crab

Creamy Crab

My fave dish for this session!! mad

The salted egg yolk sauce is finger licking good and goes surprisingly well with the fried buns. Of coz, crabs were sweet and juicy too.
Red Grouper Steamboat

Red Grouper Steamboat

Hmm.. this soup is filled with the usual for fish steamboat - yam, cabbage, green veggies and seaweed. they were rather generous with the portion though. Fish meat was fresh too.
Lotus Roots with Macadamia

Lotus Roots with Macadamia

According to the owner Mr Kovan, this dish is exclusive to his store. In all, a crunchy combi of sliced lotus root, carrot, French peas, macademia nuts, celery and mushroom. Good if you have a tendency for lighter food (on the waistline as well!)
Salted Egg Yolk Prawn

Salted Egg Yolk Prawn

This dish uses the same sauce as the yummy crabs.. so needless to say, another must try here!! The sauce is thick and prawn was big and fresh.

Buffet for lunch OK Dec 06, 2013

I have no idea why the photos are not upright if you asked me. They are upright on my computer and in the device i took them with.

Anyways, OpenRice had very kindly awarded me the prize to sample lunch at Carnivore Appetite lol

Alas, it was a rainy afternoon and i could not explore their alfresco section.

The fish kebab was not bad. Grilled to perfection and had sweet fragrance of seafood goodness. Do try the chicken kebab (picture 1) too. There are also lamb and beef meat available at the live grilling section. This is the only area whereby a chef is always present to serve you your desired food order.

Personally did not enjoy the topshell (picture 2). But then again, taste is to the individual.

There is a huge salad bar section right next to the entrance (picture 3). if you are into greens, you should enjoy yourself here.

Service staff were generally helpful and polite.

For the interior decoration, i actually quite liked it. It was rather spacious and furniture used were colourful. Gives a lively feel to the entire place, in contrast to the cold cold weather outside.

There is a bar at the back of the restaurant (picture 4), which is also next to the doorway to their alfresco seating area.

The tofu was fragrant and had very crispy outer skin and no excess oil dripping. I like the generous amount of bonito flakes here mad

Sashimi Caesar Salad

Sashimi Salad

There were cubes of tuna and salmon sashimi, crispy bread chunks and lettuce in the salad. The sauce for the salad had wasabi and yuzu in it, resulting in a flavour so refreshing, every bit and drop was slurped up tongue

There is no ajinomoto in this japanese hot pot dish and they used NZ beef.

Ribeye Yakiniku (BBQ)
Ribeye Yakiniku

Ribeye Yakiniku

This was my most preferred dish among the list of food being served. The beef was juicy, tender and well marinated. Grilling was fun, took only a few minutes (it also depends how cooked you want your red meat to be)

Carbonara Udon
Carbonara Udon

Carbonara Udon

This dish uses udon instead of the usual pasta, with a beautiful (and delicious) sunny-side up, bacon and strips of kani. Taste was a rich and creamy texture. It is rather filling because of that. Personally i like udon and it was refreshingly pleasant to eat it in this manner. Also, the udon for this dish is made daily.

Kinoko Pizza

Kinoko Pizza

A lot of bonito flakes on this pizza as can be seen. They used enoki, shiitake and shimeji mushrooms for the pizza topping. They used japanese mayo with tonkatsu sauce here.

N.Z Beef Rib
NZ Beef Rib

NZ Beef Rib

This is supposed to be for only 1 pax. But i seriously suspect that they actually meant breakfast+lunch+dinner for 1 pax. The serving was huge shocked for the main item (beef rib) and the 2 sides (coleslaw & potato wedges). Tender and mildly fat red meat. The beef was cooked over slow fire according to the chef.
