Omelette rice Smile Oct 16, 2013   (Related Review)

When Coco Ichibanya first opened, the queues were very long. Now, it has died down quite a bit probably because it does not have much novelty anymore. The food standard still remains though. I had the chicken omelette rice, something different from what I usually order (without the omelette). The thin layer of egg wrapped around the rice was delicious! The thin layer of egg did not break easily. The curry was also still as good. If you are daring enough, try ordering your dish with the highest level of spiciness.

This costs around $13.

Fish Head Curry $17.90
The curry was spicy enough and went well with the plain rice. The fish was also tender and fresh.

Claypot Cabbage with Mushroom $5.90
There was plenty of cabbage in it, enough to feed 4 pax. It is a very simple dish

Sotong with Spring Onion was quite fragrant.

Tofu Beancurd $7.90 soft texture but I find it so-so only.

Sesame oil chicken $7.90
recommended because the chicken was quite tender and marinated well.

The menu design is in a newspaper format which I find that it is really creative.

Jap food OK Oct 15, 2013

Enoki hoiru mushiyaki $9.90
this dish contained assorted mushrooms in clear butter soup. I felt that this is too expensive because there were not much mushrooms in it and it could be whipped up easily so it doesn't justify a price tag of $9.90.

Cha soba $8.50
cold japanese green tea noodles~ The cha soba sauce was served chilled. The cha soba's texture was a little hard. The seaweed provided was quite little.

Amaebi Karaage $5.90
these crispy sweet shrimps are a great snack and it is recommended to eat this with sake. It also goes well with the squeezed lemon.

I like the ambience here though, as compared to Ichiban Sushi.

Beef udon $13.90
the udon's texture was not hard and well cooked. It was quite thick. The taste was also light, and not salty nor sweet. The thin slices of beef were not many so it might be a little expensive.

cha soba and chicken set $13.90
the portion of the cha soba was quite big and very filling. The mini rice bowl chicken don was nice too. The gravy was not salty. Overall, the plain rice with the gravy, chicken and egg combined very well to give a good taste. It is very appetizing.

Quick lunch fix OK Oct 15, 2013   (Related Review)

I was here to settle a quick meal.

Fried youtiao with mango
The youtiao was quite oily and soggy but luckily the taste was still alright as the mango in it made it tasty and was also quite moist.

Wanton mee
The egg noodles' texture were just right, and was a little "springy". The wantons were nicely cooked and gravy was just right too.

Service was normal and food didn't arrive as fast as I had expected as there were not many people here.
