I like this dessert stall only selectively for a few of its items. Having tried several items on the menu, I have had mixed pleasant and unpleasant experiences here. Yet I still frequent the place for a few particular items.

I love, in particular, the Bean Curd with Walnut paste ($3.80). However I order it without the addition of syrup as the Walnut paste is already sweet itself. The combination of both is perfect, both the hot and chiller version.

Besides that, the Mango Roll is good too. Heard the Durian one is not too bad. The skin is not too thick but with thick mango chunks. But at times the mango might be quite sourish

It is advisable to give some of the items a miss such as the Coconut Jelly, the Green Tea Mousse and the Osmanthus Jelly. Overall, the range of varieties is quite wide and reasonably-priced.

Salad Craze ^^ Smile Dec 31, 2013

Categories : Salads/ Acai Bowl

Everytime after my work out at town, I always love to grab a quick fix at this place to satisfy my hunger and yet not over-indulging.

My favourite is their Make-Own-Salad meal. A regular size salad ($9) consists of a salad base, two proteins and two veggies. For salad base, I will opt for half veggie, half pasta. The pasta is served chilled and tossed in olive oil. For proteins, the Egg Frittata, Grilled Kumara, Chic Teriyaki, Bratwurst and Sautéed Mushrooms are my recommended items. As for the other, I most often opt for cranberry, tomato or croutons.

There are five salad dressings to choose from. It is self service so one can take the amount one prefers. I particularly prefers the Plum Sesame dressing. And there is also free topping of white sesame and sunflower seeds ^^

This is my one of my favorite salad place. A plate of salad packed with all the healthy stuff (not too much dressing of course) to pamper and nourish my body lol

An interesting concept of coffee shop with a fusion of French Food, burgers, beer and ordinary Chinese hawker food fare like Minced Meat Noodle. Food pricing is generally affordable except for a few food items.

Ordered The Duck Leg Confit ($14.50) and the Crispy Pork Belly with sauerkraut (the daily's special of that day). I had the former as I don't take food too high in fats. But I took a nip of it minus the skin but even just the meat itself only was like as if smoldered with oil. The Duck Leg Confit was nicely done with crispy skin layer complemented by a smooth mashed potato base.

My friend tried the Kangaroo Burger ($18) from the other stall. It was quite good with nicely done burger patty which had ample juiciness in it.

In conclusion, the place is a good choice to cater for different taste buds.

A Simple yet Satisfying Meal Smile Dec 13, 2013

There have been quite a number of ShengKee outlets popping up across the island. I think one can easily spot one of its outlets in any of the major shopping malls. The food choices here are not plentiful but its price is considerably affordable.

Out of most of their noodle or rice items which I had tried so far, my highly recommended one would be the Minced Pork Hor Fun. Simple yet flavorful with its minced pork gravy with mushroom, the chili condiments provided added additional twist to the noodles. The chilli was really good, fragrant and not too spicy. Now I don't bother trying other items at all haha lol

The set meal comes with a dessert and side dish of either yam cake or carrot cake by just paying a minimal top up charges. Again I enjoyed eating the yam cake with the chilli together. On the other hand, the Mango Pomelo Sago desserts was just ordinary. Other desserts options include Sesame Paste, Red bean Soup or Almond Paste which I find them all too sweet.

One of the signature items is the Mango Roll. It was nothing fantastic. The skin was slightly too thick while the mango chunk was a tad sourish mad

Overall, I would consider this as a simple yet satisfying meal. I love their chilli and I cannot do without it if I were to eat at ShengKee. chopsticklol

A decent leisure brunch ^^ Smile Dec 07, 2013

This place is quite inaccessible via public transport, being located on a hilltop. But it is quite a good setting for a leisure brunch, seated at the alfresco area surrounded by the trees around the restaurant.

The food here is equally just as good! Had the Big Brekkie, consisting of poached eggs, bacon, German sausages, mushrooms, Focaccia toast, roasted tomato and potato. Nothing extraordinary but everything on my plate was palatable enough. Ordered the Blueberry pancakes too and ahhh was just as good, except the pancakes were not fluffy enough ><

Pricing is slightly steep, considering its out-of-the-place location. Service during my visit was so-so, perhaps due to the lack of staffing. But food is up to standard. lol
