Tried this for restaurant week and the ingredients for Nice salad and Burgers are fresh.

We enjoyed the NY Bacon burger and Lollipop Waffle but don't expect Michelin star standards so you won't be disappointed. To be fair, it is also not Michelin priced; the burger is decent at $21. Or try at the next restaurant week - 3 dishes at $35!

The burger is yummy! Would go back to try other burgers after tasting this – traditional dry aged beef patty served with smoked bacon strips, with oozing mayonnaise, tomato, melting cheddar cheese, accompanied with crunchy lettuce and pickled cucumber. A beautiful calorific mess, with a pile of shoestring fries that one shouldn’t try to finish for health reasons; confirm food coma after from all that carbs! tongue

We have been to Jewel a couple of times and have had nice long chats with the owner. So on Friday, I swinged by on the way back to office to grab cuppas for my team.

Nice cosy ambience for chillout and if you need quiet place to work. Good for couples, students or working crowd. Coffee good, definitely in top 10 in singapore but I feel tad pricey for the location... Friendly staff and interesting drinks but I haven't tried the food. I generally prefer their flat white because it has strong nutty flavour, whereas the latte is tad too milky for me. Americanos have strong shots and very little in quantity! Decently near Farrer Park MRT too!

Personally find the coffee behind CSH, Broers but cool place to try once. Haven't tried the food though.

Long black – much more acidic than regular long black but strong flavor.

Flat white – one of my favorites other than nylons and broers. Mildly sweet, very slight nutty flavor despite being Meiji milk (usually only get this flavor with greenfields milk). Milky but still has that slightly bitter coffee kick at the end.

Latte – well balanced. Decently strong flavor although there is quite a lot of milk. Using genovese beans. But personally would prefer it with less milk.

We found the food quality esp the roast beef and Guinness pie good but it would have been really pricey without the palate promotion that gave us 33% off.

Try the Roast Beef – weekend only special. Meat was well done but it’s the sauce that made the dish special. Potatoes were well cooked with sweet flavour but not overdone till it’s soggy. Yorkshire pudding on the side made it extremely British.

overall good quality but not the best you can find in SG.

more details and pics at http://www.eatprayflying.com/bak-kut-teh-review-song-fa-new-bridge-road/

I can see why this is a tourist attraction - the decor of the place makes the place look historical, but cleaner version of course. It has a mezzanine where they put in fake windows that is reminiscence of Singapore’s humble shop houses of the past.

The Bak Kut Teh is pepper-based (not herbal). We ordered the Premium Loin Ribs which were tender, good chewy texture and not too fatty. Enjoyed the soup as it was spicy but not till your tongue goes numb. W
