QQ Rice! OK Nov 20, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese

QQ rice is a takeaway kiosk selling rice rolls with more than 20 varieties of delicious stuffing. Their grain rice comprises of mixed grain, purple, brown to wheat germ brown rice and are lower in calories than ordinary white rice.

I've wanted to try their rice roll but since I was in a rush the other day, I simply grabbed their pre-packed onigiri rice. Their Emperor Veg ($2) is a vegetarian option.

Also got the Chicken Floss ($2.50) and it's really interesting how the different colours of grain look like. The fillings are all centered in generously.

Although there may be times when I feel like the rice are a little hard for my liking, they're still a good alternative option to have other than sushi.

Love in Paris! Smile Nov 20, 2013

The girls and I wandered around Orchard road on a weekend afternoon just to wait for high tea! & Paris Baguette was the place that's worth all the time and and wait!

We kind of waited for a time when the crowd started to cease because otherwise it's really difficult to find seats. They do provide takeaways, but having their awesome offerings at their nice environment will be more pleasing.

Whenever I pass by this place, I would always be taken aback by their gorgeous cakes offerings, like how pretty can they be! They're hard to resist.

Their savoury selection also looks really appetizing in these container boxes, easy for rush hour people to takeaway back to their offices.

Their bread selection, freshly baked on that day with aromatic smell of perfection from afar. Ordering can be difficult sometimes because you don't know which to try.

Anyway, one of the many things I've ordered was the Italian Chicken Calzone ($3.60). This tasted relatively okay, filled with fillings of chicken in marinara sauce and Italian dressing with hint of cheese, I wouldn't say it's a must try but it would definitely be so much better if it's served warm.

For the sweet, I've ordered the Oh~ My Baby Crepe ($8). Staying true to its name, this precious one didn't have that heavy taste which allows you to actually crave for another one. The crepe is light and airy but holds a good ratio of whipped cream and strawberries in between, topped with simple icing and raspberry which makes an overall perfect delicate dessert.

The other great stuff we got ourselves were the Perfect New York Cheesecake ($8), Condensed Milk Cream Baguette ($2.20) and the Royal Mango Pudding ($4.50). The cheesecake was fragrant but tasted fine, but the pudding is always a must try! If you don't then you probably haven't tasted the true star of this place. The baguette was soft and fluffy with light and sweetened condensed milk, definitely an on-the-go snack that can cheer you up easily, it is also one of the cheapest item there.

Overall, this place have always been leaving me with good impressions so much so that if it were to have an outlet near where I stay, I may end up going there everyday! I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Not long ago my clique and I decided to have an awesome brunch at Ssikkek Korean Grill BBQ Buffet. One of its older outlets was relocated to here at United Square, a pretty centralized and accessible place.

The restaurant itself is really big and spacious and there are also several televisions hanging on the wall playing Korean variety shows and K-pop performances.

The main buffet selection includes 5-6 trays of meat including spicy chicken, garlic chicken, pork collar, squid and different kinds of beef. Their cooked food selection comprises of glass noodle, spicy rice cakes, sushi as well as 4 different types of soup like creamy ginseng, seafood, seaweed and kimchi. There are also other side dishes like salads and fruits.

They also offer miniature version of bibimbap like the one below and you can feel free to add your freshly grilled meat to it or any way you like.

And after having mouthful of meat one after another, we figured it'd be fun to eat creatively like the Koreans by wrapping the meat with some lettuce and more. It's delicious.

After including GST & Service charges, each of us paid exactly $16.50. Although the variety and selection isn't that greatly extensive, but taking into considerations the 1.5 hours we spent there at that price, it is overall a wonderful experience to enjoy Korean BBQ without burning holes in our pockets!

Kaki Fuyong! Smile Nov 18, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Food Court

Visited this place some time ago and have tried their Chicken Kaki Fuyong ($3.50) which comes with rice and soup. It's basically a Japanese omelette bathed in oyster sauce and then topped with nice tender thick chicken cuts. I've tried this in other schools but this stall just serves it better for some reasons.

Curry Craze! Smile Nov 17, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Food Court | Curries

After some intensive and impromptu dinner marathon session at Star Vista, my buddy continued suggesting taking a walk around The Kitchen foodcourt just to 'food window shop'. I found him ridiculous but agreed anyway and gosh, we ended up getting something again!

There's this particular stall that's very unique from the rest with showing a section of interesting plastic food models along with different awards and prizes and some media coverage information.

Apparently it's selling the famous Bishan Curry Chicken ($5.50) which is on a promotional price down from the original $5.90. Business seems to be better here than the other stalls. The curry I received was served hot in its thick consistency, it is spicy but the spicyness level did not overpower the delicious curry flavour. The chicken was presented in generous large portions for its price and cooked to tender perfection that's easily removable from the bone. The potatoes were also amazing and have totally absorbed the curry down to its core.

The rice was also served warm in a good generous portion enough to be fairly ratio with the curry chicken. The two compliments really well and the rice did help to level down the spicyness.

This dish is one of the reasons why I'm a huge fan of curry.
