Restaurant Interior with Open Kitchen Concept

Palio has quite a reasonable lunch set so we decided to go to Palio when we were at Resorts World Sentosa. They have a 2 course set consisting of an appetizer and pizza or pasta for $25++, and a 3 course set with an added dessert for $30++. We had the 2 course set as we aren't fans of desserts.

Once we were shown to our seats, the manager asked if we wanted sparkling or still water. I thought this meant that they don't serve normal water for free but I saw later on that they actually do!!! I felt really cheated after that as the bottle of still water cost $9 for 1 litre. Hence please beware and just ask if they serve normal water at any restaurant that you go to.

Toast with Chilled Salsa

Toast with Chilled Salsa

After you've placed your order, you will be served toast with chilled salsa. This was simple but so yummy I wish I had more! The toast was crispy but light and soft on the inside, and the chilled salsa had subtle herb flavours and was very refreshing due to its cold temperature.

Prosciutto e Melone

Prosciutto e Melone

Appetizer - Prosciutto e Melone
This is a classic Italian appetizer consisting of sliced rock melon paired with parma ham, topped with some salad leaves and fig compote. The sweetness of the rock melon and saltiness of the parma ham went together very well.

Caprese

Caprese

Appetizer - Caprese
Another classic Italian appetizer, the Caprese consists of Italian buffalo mozerella cheese and vine ripened tomatoes. The cheese and tomatoes were both juicy and very light and refreshing on the palate. Loving both the appetizers smile

Linguine with Asparagus in Pesto

Linguine with Asparagus in Pesto

Linguine with Asparagus in Pesto
Pesto is a kind of sauce made of basil... The ones I've tried before had really strong basil taste hence I expected this to be the same. However for this dish, the basil taste and fragrance was extremely subtle. The pasta/sauce was also tasteless and I felt as though the chef had forgotten to add the salt. The linguine was good though, which was al dente. The asparagus was nice and crunchy and the cherry tomatoes were juicy but I wished the vegetables portion was more.

Pizza with Bak Kwa and Floss

Pizza with Bak Kwa and Floss

Pizza with Bak Kwa and Floss
This pizza really reminded me of the Lunar New Year as it consisted of bak kwa, pork floss and chilli bits, but it wasn't too spicy. This was ok just that the toppings made the pizza really un-Italian. It was more like a Singapore flavoured pizza.

Their food is generally good but perhaps the pasta and pizza we had chosen were not their specialties. Wouldn't mind giving them another try next time.

Herbal BKT and Pig Trotters OK Feb 27, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Hawker Centre | Chinese Soup

This stall is located at the innermost lane of the food centre from the main road. I spotted quite a number of tables having food from this stall so I thought it must be good. My boyfriend and I got the pork rib soup and pig trotters to share among the 2 of us.

Pig Trotters

Pig Trotters

Pig Trotters: We got the smallest portion which was just right for both of us. The sauce was on the watery side which was good, if it's a thick gravy we will get sick of it really quickly. The pig trotters, both meat and skin, were tender and melt-in-your-mouth and had absorbed the flavours from the sauce. There were also some mushroom pieces in this dish.

Pork Rib Soup

Pork Rib Soup

Pork Rib Soup: This pork rib soup/ bak kut teh was the herbal kind and not the peppery type. I would have preferred of there was a stronger herbal taste and fragrance and the soup was thicker. Some of the pork ribs were slightly tough whole some were rather tender. If you bring the claypot back to the stall they will refill the soup for you smile

Crispy & Moist Fried Chicken Smile Feb 27, 2014

Categories : Taiwanese

It was a hot and sunny afternoon hence we were looking for a drink at Resorts World Sentosa, when we came across this and saw that they had a set consisting of the Large Fried Chicken and a drink.

We got the Original flavour with a cup of sour plum lemonade drink which was really refreshing and wasn't too sweet and sour. We chose to have some chilli powder sprinkled onto our fried chicken which was served piping hot. The exterior was crispy and the meat/interior was really moist. Saltiness of the chicken was also just right. This is definitely much nicer than Shih Lin's fried chicken.. highly recommended!

Great Baby Crayfish Salad! Smile Feb 25, 2014

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant

It's my dad's birthday month and as he's a member, he gets to enjoy 50% off the total bill for his first visit, and 30% off for the 2nd visit. We had already utilized the first visit and we're back to utilize the 2nd visit discount as their food is great smile which is unbeknownst to most people.

Baby Crayfish Salad $15
I had a really heavy breakfast so I decided to get a salad for lunch. Their crayfish salad was quite a big portion, consisting of chunks of romaine lettuce, sliced avocado, baby crayfish coated in mayo topped with flying fish roe. Their dressing was homemade wafu dressing with a drizzle of chilli mayo, hence you can taste the slightest hint of spice in the dressing. Everything was really nice and fresh, and I loved the different textures of all the ingredients - the crunch of the lettuce, the sweet and bouncy crayfish and creamy mayo, and the tiny bursts of flying fish roe. I loved this smile Highly recommended!

Strawberry Tofu Cheesecake Smile Feb 24, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western Variety | Bakery | Café | Desserts and Cakes

My colleague was in the Tanjong Pagar and she bought back a slice of cake for me! This is their Strawberry Tofu Cheesecake. I expected it to be soft, smooth and creamy like normal cheesecakes, but this was more like a gelatinous mousse/pudding, with sliced strawberry and jelly at the top and biscuit crumb as the base. Even though this wasn't what I expected, but it still tasted pretty good! Overall the cake was quite light and refreshing and the sweetness level just right. Not bad at all! smile
