They are known for their extremely great service such as providing free medicure and free flow of snacks/drinks during your waiting time. And of course their good quality meats and broth! After hearing the epic hype about how great the food/service at Hai Di Lao is, I made a reservation on a Friday night. As usual, it was already crowded at 7 pm but we were well taken care of in terms of having a seat and getting our drinks.

Unlimited serving of fruits, desserts, pickles and 20 over different sauces. Note that this is chargeable at $4 for each person. We were not told about it but we realised after scanning through the menu. So once you take something from the sauce bar, it will automatically charged into your bill. For the broth, we had Ma La and Black Chicken w Herbs. I personally like the black chicken one while the Ma La was too oily and spicy for my liking. Note that 2 soup base is charged at $20 flat. Recommended sides are Select Beef, Black Pork and Handmade Dumplings/Noodles.

After reading, you will come to realise that dining at Hai Di Lao isn't cheap at all. For a table of 2 diners, the bill came up to almost a hundred bucks - but it is certainly satisfying.

The hype for desserts these days surrounds waffles, cakes and tarts in cafes. But has everyone forgotten the traditional taste of Hong Kong desserts? If you're a fan of Hong Kong desserts like myself, you've got to check out Hee Kee - it's first Singapore store located in Jurong Point. I was amazed that they serve a delectable spread of 80 desserts, all hand-made by its in-house chefs. Glad to be invited for a food tasting at Hee Kee to sample some of their best desserts. Some unique and really good desserts like - traditional steamed milk pudding,

Mango Cheong Fun ($3.30 per piece) - Steamed spongy sweet-coconut infused skin filled with mango chunk. Wrapped nicely like a gift, look at how 'shiny' and silky those skins were? It's such a great combination, sweet mangos wrapped with coconut skin. Just thumbs up.

Whole Coconut with Coconut Ice cream & Peanut Crush ($8.80) - It's indeed a refreshing dessert, filled with rich coconut ice cream and coconut flesh, topped off with crushed peanuts. This dish reminds me of the famous coconut ice cream in Bangkok, it tasted almost the same. It comes with a cup of refreshing coconut juice as well.

Durian Pancake (From $3.30) - I'm always a durian pancake fan and this dish satisfied my craving. The durian pancake at Hee Kee is a hearty combination of rich durian puree and whipped cream, wrapped in coconut infused skin. One thing I've to emphasized - the coconut infused skin tasted heavenly! Having it alone was already good enough, adding on the durian puree filling was just pure shiok-ness.

If those dishes I've mentioned above excites you, be sure to visit Hee Kee to get your dessert fix! You can get to enjoy sweet treats in a vintage-inspired 40-seating setting with your loved ones.

Located in the heart Orchard at 313 Somerset, ramen lovers may now enjoy high quality ramen using the same recipes created by first Michelin starred ramen chef. The Chabuton chain is extremely popular in both Japan and Thailand, with 9 and 14 outlets in respective countries. If you've been to Japan or Bangkok, you would have probably heard or had Chabuton before.

The menu is pretty extensive with a selections of different broth - Tonkotsu, Shio, Miso, as well as Shoyu (dipping ramen). Note that you can add-on a Soft Boiled Egg and Buta Kakuni for $3. Patrons can choose how they want their ramen and broth to be prepared. Depending on personal preference, you can choose the texture of the noodles, from soft to hard. And how unctuous and salty you want it to be.
Signature Ramen

Signature Ramen

This is Chabuton's signature dish - Chabuton Tonkotsu Ramen (S: $8.30 / L: $11.90) The rich and creamy broth is the culmination of many hours of simmering pork bones. And a big slice of char siew sits atop of the ramen. If you're looking for a spicy kick, add a dollar and go for Chabuton Kara Kara Ramen ($12.90). Chabuton Shoyu Zaru Ramen ($11.90) was my favorite among the rest during the food tasting session.

Recommended side dishes are the Gyoza, Ika Karaage and Char Siew Don ($4). Now with the first flag store in Singapore, ramen lovers may now savour bowls of gratifying ramen. Reasonably priced and generous portion, who says you can't eat affordable & filling meals in Orchard? smile

The restaurant was previously located at Jalan Riang but now relocated in the heart of Holland Village, you'll find casual bistro - The Fat Cat. A perfect place to chill with your friends over dinner and drinks. What's unique is, they serve a wide array of dishes from 3 types of cuisine, Thai, North Indian and Western.

I'm glad to be invited for a food tasting session w them, to savor some of their best dishes from the 3 different kitchens. A starter & a main to start off for each cuisine - of course ending on a sweet note w desserts. Thai Menu - We sampled the pomelo salad, something unique - sweet & sour, definitely kick start our tastebuds. Green curry was decent though.

North Indian Menu - If you're a fan of naan and chicken masala, you'll definitely love this set of menu. We tried the garlic naan, it was super good.

Western Menu - Be sure to savour their signature items like Lamb Shank, Duck Confit or Crab Meat Pasta. I personally love the Duck Confit, very tender and soft. Desserts was average overall. With a spread of mouth-watering dishes from 3 different cuisine, I'm pretty sure they can satisfy your craving. The Fat Cat also serves a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, beers, wines, cocktails, coffee, juices - you will be spoilt for choices!

Matcha Fondueee Smile Jun 09, 2014

Thanks to 'The Entertainer' app, we are entitled to a 1-for-1 dinner buffet at Lime Restaurant in PARKROYAL Hotel on Pickering. It is serving peranakan cuisine cooked by chef Nancy Teo who has many years of experience. The matcha fondue was the main highlight in the desserts segment, everyone just whoah at the sight of it. worthy bites are the crème brulee and freshly baked tarts in different flavours especially the key lime pie.
The peranakan corner serving authentic peranakan classic dishes such as Kueh Pie Tti, Ayam Bbuah Keluak (spicy chicken cooked with black nuts), Babi Pongteh and many more. The best one I had was 'Udang Assam', very flavourful Tamarind prawns - must try.
Seafood and salmon sashimi corner - serving fresh prawns, mussels, oysters and clams! Limited assorted sushi and they were all raw seafood on it. Thankfully, all of them tasted fresh & not fishy. Their savoury food tasted good overall. Some were slightly above average, while others fell short of it. While I feel the desserts were something to raved about with the excellent quality of it.
