Good sushi chain Smile Dec 20, 2013

Had dinner at itacho bedok mall last sat. It was crazy at bedok mall flooded with so many people. Despite being the 1st group in queue for 5-6pax, we had to wait for 25mins for a table.

Serving of food is pretty slow and the servers missed out out drinks. Probably they were overwhelmed by the crowd. Still the service was generally good and polite.

The crab meat chawamushi was nice and my son loved it. My father-in-law and mother-in-law had tempura udon. I found that average, nothing very special. I mean how special van a tempura udon be? Haha

My wife and I had sushi. I loved the fatty yellowtail, the geoduck, fatty salmon, bluefin tuna. The fish was fresh and of decent size. Also tried a codfish roe maki but it was disappointing. Could hardly see the roe and it didnt taste any different from ebi roe. Perhaps it was too little that I couldn't really taste it.

Total bill was $95 which was decent for 4 adults and a 2yr old. Ichiban is still my favorite sushi chain but itacho is slowly catching up. Definitely better than sakae and sushi tei in my opinion.

Not worth the wait OK Dec 20, 2013

My wife and i had lunch at Tim Ho Wan last friday. Had to wait 30mins before our turn. Wanted to try coz the queue was always super long. Ordered the signature char siew buns, siew mai, har kow, steamed pork ribs, malai gao and some other dim sum.

The char siew buns were deep fried and were really delicious. Very different from the usual steamed type. The other dishes however were only average. They were decent but nothing special. The standard is like any other usual dim sum joints like Yum Cha and Red Star. While the food isnt too bad, it's definitely not worth 30mins waiting time. I will go again, only if the queue is short.
