Satay OK Jan 29, 2014

Was craving for satay so bought 5 pork and 5 chicken plus rice at this stall with my friend. $0.60 per stick minimum 10 sticks.

I prefer the pork to the chicken as I felt that it was slightly tastier. Maybe that's because fattier food are tastier. Rice and peanut sauce were okay.

Besides satay they also sell other local delights such as hokkien mee and fried carrot cake.

Deceiving Looks Cry Mar 23, 2014

My friend and I was around the area and decided to dine here. It was pretty awkward as the queue was at the next building. Hard to tell if they were queueing for seat at the shop. But since we were smart, we deduce that people would not line up at there for nothing and that it had to be the queue for I AM.

The waiting time was not as long as we had expected and pretty soon it was our turn. The waiter led us to a table and handed us the menu. We only wanted to try their cakes but their menu did not have them.

We just looked at what was display and ordered what we wanted.

The waitress took our order and we waited for our orders to arrive. After a very long time our drink- Stir It Up($6.90), finally arrive. Chocolate-milkey drink topped with whipped cream and maraschino cherry. Apparently this is one of their signature dish. I didn't llike the taste at all. It wasn't really chocolatey, more of a weird milky, minty, mild taste of cocoa kind of drink. The only nice about the drink is the oreo and cherry. Even the table next to us who ordered the drink did not like it.

Next came the Scarlett Red Velvet Cake($8.90). The cake was quite dense and tasted a little like chocolate. The frosting was cream cheese. I think it's quite nice and it taste a lot better than the crepe.

Lastly came the Rainbow Mille Crepe Cake($8.90). I think the crepe tasted quite plain. There was not much cream in between each layer. Luckily there was some chocolate sauce at the side which help added some chocolatey sweetness to the crepe.

Salad buffet OK Jan 27, 2014

Went with my friend as there was the 1-for-1 promotion. Both of us love pasta so we ordered Fisherman's Favorite Seafood Pasta ($20.90) which stated chef recommendation. However, we ordered it aglio olio style as we didn't like tomato-based pasta.

Changing the dish from a tomato-base to an oil-base was a huge mistake. I think the tomato sauce helps add flavor to the seafood. The seafood was not fresh and without the tomato sauce it quite bland. Squid was tough to chew, prawn was tasteless except some spicy flavor from the chili powder. The fish coating was mushy however the inside was okay.
After that, we ordered the Ice Cream Cake ($6.50).

It's just a layer of cream followed by a thin layer of cake and then layers vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream and then another thin layer of cake with some white chocolate at the back. It tasted too normal that I would rather just buy a tub of ice cream then this "cake". However, lucky there was a salad buffet.

I thought that there would only be veggies but man was I wrong. There were pasta salad, fruit salad, meat salad, chips and many more. There were also many dressing such as honey coriander, mango and thousand island dressing.
If it weren't for the salad buffet I would have felt that coming here was a total waste of my time. Their service was also commendable. They were friendly and fast. Empty glass of water would be filled and empty plates would be cleared.

Tart  Cry Jan 25, 2014

Categories : Japanese | Desserts and Cakes

Went to Fruit Paradise Cafe for dinner with my friends. I ordered the Combo Curry Rice ($13.90).

Cold mashed potato with ketchup, salad, deep fried prawn and chicken with rice and sweet curry.
I didn't like the mashed potatoes with ketchup. Salad was quite nice (haven't had a salad that didn't taste nice). Prawns were oily and not that nice. The chicken was a little tough to chew but tasted better than the prawn. Rice was normal, curry was sweet but also a little too salty after a while. Overall it wasn't such a nice dish.

Next is my tart. $2 off tart when purchased with a meal. Mixed berries ($5.80)
It is a chocolate based tart topped with chocolate cake, cream and fresh fruits. I felt that it was very chocolatey but luckily there was the raspberry sauce at the side as well as the fruits to help cut down the chocolate-tiness.

For service it was very hard to get the staff's attention. Most of the time their back were facing us so many patrons(including us) had trouble getting their attention.

Tip: Stick to their tarts instead.
