Nori Seaweed Flavoured Fried Carrot Cake

Nori Seaweed Flavoured Fried Carrot Cake

Tried this amazing fried carrot cake at the Food Expo! This is, definitely, by far the best fried carrot cake I've tasted so far. They are very innovative too, they have about 10 different fried carrot cake flavours (flavoured using seasoning powder). My friend and I got the Nori Seaweed Flavoured Fried Carrot Cake. First bite into it, I was blown away by the fragrance. The egg in it enhanced the flavour, bringing the carrot cake to the next level (really, it's very delicious!). On the downside though, flavour of the nori seaweed wasn't really present. Otherwise, this is perfect!

Salted Caramel

Salted Caramel

If you really want something icy cold but don't want ice cream, choose gelato instead! My friend and I shared a double scoop Salted Caramel Gelato. First few bites were shiok, but it got a little to sweet and rich after awhile. Still, this is a pretty good Salted Caramel, both saltiness and sweetness are present. Texture was alright. Definitely a healthier choice if you still want your ice cream, though!

Salted Caramel

Salted Caramel

This was my very first try on Salted Caramel, and I'm impressed! Initially, I thought it would be weird to have a salty flavoured ice cream (hence I didn't try salted caramel flavoured ice cream until now) but I take back my words! This ice cream has a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. Definitely want this again!

Peranakan Laksa Lemak

Peranakan Laksa Lemak

My friend wanted to get the Stir-fried Spaghetti in Laksa sauce with Tiger Prawns (I think that's the name of the dish) but we ticked on the wrong dish (we were supposed to fill in the order chit on our own), and hence she got this Peranakan Laksa Lemak. Portion was generous, with lots of fresh ingredients. Noodles were springy, however, I found the coconut taste in the laksa gravy too overpowering. If not, this is quite an enjoyable dish.
Stir-fried Spaghetti w/ Soft-Shell Chilli Crab

Stir-fried Spaghetti w/ Soft-Shell Chilli Crab

Since I heard from other reviews that the Soft-Shell Crab dishes are a must get, I ordered this Stir-fried Spaghetti w/ Soft-Shell Chilli Crab for myself. I like spaghetti and chilli crab myself, so this combination was perfect to me. Served on the side is archar (very refreshing, great with the pasta) and the chilli crab gravy to pour over the soft-shell crab. Portion was huge, so share this with another person if you want to have some room for their awesome desserts. Batter for the crab was fragrant and it's crispy, however, it took away the flavour of the crab. Chilli crab gravy was delish. Only if they serve the deep fried mantou to dip with the sauce, that would be perfect! Would recommend them to decrease the portion a little bit and charge lower.
Cheesy Mushroom Spaghetti

Cheesy Mushroom Spaghetti

My other friend ordered the Cheesy Mushroom Spaghetti. Nothing outstanding about this dish, and it's too cheesy for my liking. A little overpriced too, since the main ingredient used is only mushrooms.
Durian Pengat

Durian Pengat

Durian lovers, this Durian Pengat is a must get! I enjoyed this durian mousse a lot, but it's very rich after awhile, especially after eating the huge portion of the chilli crab pasta. This dessert is great for sharing too, as the portion is relatively huge for one.
Coffee Brownie w/ Vanilla Ice Cream

Coffee Brownie w/ Vanilla Ice Cream

My frend got this Coffee Brownie w/ Vanilla Ice Cream. The coffee works pretty well with the chocolate, I must say. Quite delish too.

Owl Cafe is a great place to hang out once in a while, as prices can get quite steep if you order more expensive items. They should introduce set lunches, that would be great for students on a budget but want to indulge in good food!
Supplementary Information:
My only peeve about this place is that they charge additional 30 cents for iced water. Water, in my opinion, should be complimentary, especially when food outlets charge additional 17% of taxes on top of the bill.

Rockin' Red Velvet

Rockin' Red Velvet

So I got myself a Rockin' Red Velvet Cupcake ($4.50 for premium flavour). A tad pricey for the portion but I guess the taste made up for it! This is perhaps one of the best red velvets I've eaten so far (besides the ones from Twelve Cupcakes & Cake Spade). Cake itself wasn't too dry nor moist; the moistness was just right. I could also taste the chocolate in it, and it's not too sweet. Frosting was done right, too. The cream cheese wasn't grainy and the level of sweetness was on the spot. Taste of the cream cheese was there too. Frosting to cake ratio was good, too. If you like your RVs not too sweet, Spatula's RV is made for you. Also, the cute little white chocolate block on top is a bonus treat. All in all, money and calories are well spent on this.
