A nice relaxed afternoon Smile Jun 23, 2014

Categories : Western Variety | Kids-Friendly

Sometimes, you just want a cool relaxed place to have some comfot food in a hot afternoon. IKEA comes to mind at such times. This time round, we tried their cheesecake dessert  -not too bad (3 for $1). Also tried their chicken curry as well - spicy as usual. My son loved it.

Of course, most people go for the fried chicken wings - we ordered some but
were trying not to over eat as it is fried very well. We also ordered the salmon steak - steamed and healthy.

With the IKEA card, you get free coffee/ tea and discount on selected meals. So, it's really worth it.

Overall, other than the over crowded place (at anytime of the day), it is still a nice place to chill, relax and do a little home deco shopping at IKEA once in a while.

BTW - diners are encouraged to clear their own plates after dining - and I like that culture. smile

Excellent hot pot experience Smile Jun 23, 2014

If u like hot pot with a hint of class and great service, then try the newly opened Hai Di Lao at 313. It is just opened for a week. We made a reservation before that for lunch and got a private room for a birthday celebration.

For the soup, we took the tomato soup (very tasty with a bit of sour sweet base) and the mushroom soup. You can order the type of meat, vegetables etc to go with the hot pot. The sauce can be customized to suit your own taste and liking. There is free flow of fruits etc. My fav is lychee of the day - unlimited...shiok!

Service wise, you can ask to change your plate etc if required and no question is asked. You get a nice warm towel before you start which is nice. Of course, here, ladies can do their manicure etc if u have time. There's a nice kids room for your child to play as well.

Food is very fresh as usual - and nicely dercorated. Soup base can be refilled anytime you need. All in all, the experience is good and we always think of coming back once in a while.

So when you have a craving for hot pot next time, come by for a great dining experience. Make reservation if possible.

Guanaja Cake Smile Jun 02, 2014

Nice chocolate cake, with a layer of crispy crust at the bottom. The cake is not too sweet. We bought it for our Mum's bday. Price is on the high side though. But for a better quality cake that brings smile on everyone's face, it is really worth it.

Quick bite  Smile May 31, 2014

Categories : Vietnamese

Found this nice little place on top of the Vivio City deck, near Marché. The deco is simple and nothing to shout about. However, we loved the fact that the service is good (wtih a smile) and the place is not too crowded at 6pm on a Saturday evening (if you want some peace and quite time to relax). People started steaming in for a quite bite quite steadily after that - and quite a good crowd too, but not noisy.

In terms of food, we loved the sugar cane prawn, the rice vermicelli supreme as it is topped with lots of flavor, the BBQ meat is really good, the sweet and sour sauce enhances the dish well. Of course, we loved Viet food also for the generous toppings of fresh vegetables, carrots, peanuts etc. For only $ 10.50, it is a MUST try.

A little disappointed they do not serve Viet Coffee and dessets - else, it will be a full feldged Viet experience. Still, for a nice evening (not crowded) that will not blow your budget when you are in Vivo, try this place out. Even the food court is crazy. I guess it's the location. But here, you are paying a food court rate (maybe slightly a little more) for restaurant service. Nice!!!

Nice place for a relaxed afteroon if u happen to be around Pasir Ris. This is the first time I tried the Stewed Eel with rice. It comes with some fine bones but it is ok for me, as the bones are brittle and can be easily crushed and eaten with the rice. The textre and flavor is nice...The sauce is a bit lacking tough...if only more sauce is given for the rice - it will enhance the whole experience as this dish taste great in the mouth but does not leave a lasting taste...

The other dishes are equally good. Especially the fried stuff...a lot of people eat their bento as well. The bubble tea is lacking in flavor and disappointing.

Will be back to try other stuff if we happen to be around Pasir Ris but I will not purposely go there.
