Healthy Drink Selection Smile Jan 28, 2014

Well, when it comes to sugared drinks and bubble tea, it is difficult to say these drinks are healthy at all. However, Gong Cha has this range of healthy drinks under their menu, and my favourite has to be the lemon juice.

I ordered the lemon juice with aloe vera with 30% sugar, and it was great.

Service at this outlet was good, the young lady serving me was friendly and cheerful.

Fine Dining Smile Jan 28, 2014

Went to Forlino on a Saturday night for our anniversary dinner and it was a good choice. The ambience was lovely - dim and romantic. Service was impeccable and it was packed, good thing we made reservations. smile

We started off with an appetizer of beef to share. Nicely presented.

For mains, we had two dishes - paella, and pork. Both were really tasty.

Will I go there again? Maybe I just might. Reason being there are other places I would like to try out.

Well worth a visit if willing to splurge. Just remember to make reservations in advance.

Japanese Smile Jan 27, 2014

This hole (albeit not a small one) in the wall is an interesting concept to the area. It is akin to a mini "Marché" and yet there is enough variety for it is very popular with nearby residents and expatriates alike.

We felt like Japanese for dinner and that was exactly what we went for.

Ordered a couple of beers, and we tried the Japanese set ($16 promo, usually $23), which consisted of a long strip of thinly sliced beef, and 5 slices of salmon sashimi. Good value for the price, and tasted great! smile

The beef was tender and the sauce it was served in set off the taste in balance.

The salmon sashimi was fresh, and they were not that thinly sliced. Salmon sashimi on its own is also good value at $3.90.

Another dish we tried was the garlic crab fried rice ($8). Loved it!

The place is laid-back and chilled, no AC but plenty of ceiling / wall fans provide sufficient ventilation and "wind". Prices are reasonable, and no service charge, and all customers order at the counter (pay first), then the food gets served to your table.

Cons: Can get really packed, and I am not sure if they take any reservations. Also, the carpark just in front of Pigsfly does not allow for any grace period.

Would I go back again? Most definitely! I am already thinking about my next visit. lol

French Cuisine Smile Jan 27, 2014

We had dinner at this French restaurant located in Dempsey. It was fully packed and boy were we glad we had made reservations.

Appetizers were escargots, and French onion soup. Both tasty.

For mains, we had steak. Nicely done in medium rare.

Dessert was fantastic, I loved their Profiteroles!

Service was great, and the ambience was dark and romantic.
It was our wedding anniversary, and the service staff took the trouble to prepare a slice of cake, with "happy anniversary" written on the plate in chocolate sauce. A very nice touch indeed!

Portions are fair.
Their executive set lunch is also worth a try.

Spruce Burger Smile Jan 27, 2014

We had the Spruce Burger ($18) and it was good.
Beef was succulent and tasted lovely with the homemade pickles, melted cheddar cheese, altogether plated with their chunky herbed fries.

Ambience was casual, while service was excellent.

Will I be back? Definitely! This place is well worth a try if you are craving some modern American cuisine, served in an equally modern rustic casual setting.

Make reservations if possible.
