Red Bean Pancake Cry Apr 22, 2011
Categories : Bakery

As compared to Jollibean, the min jiang kueh here is average. I decided to try their red bean filling since I have always been having the usual peanut version. As I ordered for takeaway, the pancake was no longer crispy by the time I reached home. The jiang kueh was too thick in my point of view and it lacked the springiness. Also, the red bean filling was dry and it tasted not sweet enough. Not ever gonna get my pancake fix from here in future.sad

funnel cake sticks Cry Apr 16, 2011

Lately, Burger King had this new sampling addition to their menu- funnel cake sticks. I guess they were inspired by the French toast sticks but it was really not to my liking. The golden brown dough, slightly crispy, was topped with a generous portion of fine sugar. Tasted very much like sugar doughnuts except that it came in a cigar-shaped size. Should have ordered my regular fries instead of this heavy tasting dough. Tastes kinda wrong.

1 star Chicken Rice Cry Mar 09, 2011

Categories : Hainanese | Hawker Centre | Restaurant | Kids-Friendly

Having passed by this chicken rice stall on a weekday evening, my friend and I decided to try their chicken rice. The waiter and waitress were touting when they asked for our orders. Their chicken rice was quite a disappointment. It wasn't as tasty as the authentic one. The boiled chicken however, was tender since they claimed its kampung chicken.Their soup is rather bland without the taste of chicken soup. Frankly speaking, I don't think they deserve to call themselves FIVE STAR Chicken Rice. They should have some humility. The food was not decently priced either.

bread Cry Mar 09, 2011

I have had a so-so experience here..the breads are relatively small in sizes and their muffins are over priced. One small bun about the half the size of an i-phone costs me 60 cents. Wouldn't mind paying if the taste was good, but the hot dog bun I've tried was pretty average. A little disappointed especially since it wasn't very filling either. This could well be my last visit.

Bishamon~ Cry Dec 27, 2010
Categories : Singaporean | Stall / Kiosk | Ramen

I heard from some friends that Bishamon had some nice ramen and decided to check it out myself one afternoon. Their original miso ramen costs $8.50 for a small bowl and the portion was somewhat like what a primary school kid would eat. The noodles were springy no doubt, but the ingredients were too little. Some bean sprouts, some corn, like 2-3 thin slices of beef and half an egg (YES, not even 1 egg like the one shown on the menu). The soup was dangerously salted. Adding on, I also ordered a glass of iced green tea ($1), which arrived at my table- 'ice-less'. The drink was badly diluted. It tasted like 90% tap water and 10% green tea. It was definitely a disappointing lunch.

Spending per head: Approximately $9.50
