Mee Rebus Cry Dec 08, 2013
Categories : Singaporean | Café | Halal | Noodles

Decide to takeaway a pack of Mee Rebus ($4.80) after getting some groceries.

Disappointed with the Mee Rebus. The amount of ingredients (tau kwa, tau pok) are really very little, the gravy is also very light, not enough taste. As for the noodles, its still considered quite okay, not too soft neither too hard.

They do serve toast and mee siam as well. Their toast is not bad, but would not go back for its $4.80 Mee Rebus. Quality is not there and is a little overpriced.

Kampong Burger Cry Dec 06, 2013
Categories : American | Fast Food | Ice Cream and Gelato | Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

Saw the Mcdonald's Advertisment on the television, which interests me and decided to try out the new Kampong Meal. The previous Mcdonalds Special - Ebi Burger and Banana Pie are really great, thus I have high hopes for this Kampong Chicken Burger. Little did I know...

The burger is generally not worth the money. The bread, they used the breads for egg mcmuffins and big breakfast, not those that are used for mcchicken and filiet-o-fish. As for the sauce, it taste really weird. With the combination of sauce, pineapple, cheese and the chicken, the whole burger just taste really weird and rather awful. Lucky I've the fries and the Tango McFizz. Kampong Chicken Meal : not recommended.

Dominos Cry Dec 05, 2013   (Related Review)
Categories : Italian | Pasta | Halal

Everyone should knows that Domino's Pizza is well-known for its efficiency and quality in good pizzas. They promise to deliver your pizza in half an hour, or they will compensate you with a free pizza voucher. Since there is a 50% pizza promotion, I took the opportunity to use my 'Late Free Pizza Voucher', so I only paid $15.90 for 2 pizza - Cheese Crust Hawaiian Pizza & Thin Crust BBQ.

I always have praise in Domino's Pizza, but today, I'm not really satisfied with my pizza.

Firstly, the rider came 15 minutes late, which was okay (I received another Free Pizza Voucher). It is my first time trying their new Cheese Crust Hawaiian Pizza, which you've to add $4 to get that Cheese Crust. The Cheese Crust is definitely not up to standard and can definitely be better. It'll makes you feel like you're eating cheese alone, no pizza at all. Still, normal crust Hawaiian Pizza is the best. Next, I tried the Thin Crust BBQ. Also, its my first time ordering thin crust BBQ. Normally, I will go for normal crust BBQ. The thin crust pizza is generally okay, except that the corner of the pizza is very hard, which is something that can be improve on. All I know that the Cheese Crust is not worth a try at all.

Food Tasting @ Charcoal Thai OK Dec 24, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Buffet | Mookata

Hello folks! Its long since I last wrote a OpenRice Review due to my hectic schedule and fret not! I'm back now!! Am really glad to be invited for the last food tasting of the year at Charcoal Thai, Nex!

Heard of Charcoal Thai quite a few times from my friends and always wanted to give it a try, but time always doesn't permit. Finally had a chance, and moreover, its FREE! Good things are suppose to wait YEAH? Hehe!

As I write this review, was thinking of my Christmas Menu for this year's party and before ideas starts to pop up, let me start the review proper!

In this food tasting, we tasted quite a few different HotPots as well as different type of drinks that Charcoal Thai offers!

This is the Ingredients for Chicken HotPot. Indeed, generous portion of Pork, Chicken as well as vegetables, luncheon meat and crabstick to go with the HotPot!

All's ready! And my verdict : It's pretty NORMAL leh. And my fellow reviewers somehow agreed with me... Well. Anyways, its time to move on to the next dish!

Oh ya. Before I forget, Charcoal Thai offers 3 different types of sauces to go with all sorts of HotPot that they offers. And the 3 sauces are Thai Chilli Sauce, Thai Garlic Chilli Sauce and Thai Tomato Sauce. Amongst them, I would say that the Thai Tomato is the spiciest (YES, you did not read wrongly) and also my favourite. Please don't be trick by the name yeah.. Garlic Chilli would be suitable for those who really loves Sesame Dressing.. As for the Thai Chilli, no comments about it...

Oi guys! What are you all thinking ah? These are COLLAGEN Stocks lah! Probably one of the main contributor to the high cost of the HotPot. Verdict? Ladies would love the nutrients that can be obtained by these collagens.

Along with the Collagen HotPot are vegetables as well as meat. Corns, Fishcake, Cheese Hotdog, as well as Chicken, Beef and Pork Slices.

Not a good picture though. Sorry! But anyways, the food reviewers all agreed that the broth is too thick, and with all the ingredients throwed into the Collagen Hotpot, it doesn't really taste that good. But nevertheless, not forgetting the beauty nutrients behind the collagen!

We also got the chance to try out the Spicy Chicken Hotpot! Which is somehow similar to the Mala Chicken Pot that most hotpot outlet offers, but I got to say that Charcoal Thai is really generous with their portion and indeed, the level of spiciness is just nice for someone who can take spicy but cannot take spicy (Ironic yeah? That's me!)

Anyways missing out are the drinks. Managed to try their Ice Tea as well as Ice Lemongrass Tea and both are BAGUS!! Definitely worth the price that they are priced at!! Please do try out their drinks whenever you are there, its really really super duper worth the price (Yes, that's how good it is!)..

Last but not least, I thought it was really great to have their Chef to share with us the "recipe" for the Spicy Chicken Hotpot and I've got to say that the service is pretty good! Not sure if it was a benefit for us only, or for every diner, we were given petite deserts after our meal, which is very sweet of Charcoal Thai!

Blancy Tarts! OK Nov 19, 2014
Categories : Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

Went to Alive Museum and was looking for a place for a cosy and relaxing afternoon tea break. Found this humble nest for desserts, Tart Blanc!

The friend decided to go for the bread option, its presentation is definitely a plus point! Bread was delicious, and it was served with iceberg lettuce as well as some potato bites!

A rather refreshing way of serving Earl Grey Tea. Find this method of serving very appealing and interesting, it gives their customers a better and more fond impression of the place!

This is the Raspberry Tart, with its crisp base and sweet toppings, it makes a perfect match. Abit too sweet though.

This is the Chocolate Tart, similarly, it has a crispy base, with chocolate filling above it. Am not really a chocolatey person, so don't really like this. While, my friend loved this!

This is a creamier version of cheesecake. With the blueberry and raspberry topping, it makes a wonderful match. This is my favourite of the night!

All in all, spent a total of $41 for 2 drinks, 3 tarts as well as 1 pita bread. For the quality of the product, $41 is definitely worth it. But abit overpriced is you are intending of have afternoon tea here. If you are intending to look for a place that can spend a wonderful afternoon reading a book or serving the net, it will be a great place!
