Udon soup OK Apr 24, 2012
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

This udon soup from Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe is quite big and generous in portion. The udon in the soup is quite chewy and thick. Would be much better if more sliced chinese mushrooms and cut vegetables are added to it. The soup base is quite thick and have that nice braised meat taste in it. The Braised meat in this dish is quite tender and juicy, think the chef has cooked this braised meat for quite a few hours. The milk tea and other beverages are just alright, which is not really comparable with this udon soup's standard. Would love to try their other soup dishes during my future visits soon.

You Tiao OK Apr 24, 2012
Categories : Food Court

This you tiao which is also known as fried long fritters, I suppose could be one of the best you tiao in Singapore. It is extra crunchy and at the same time even more fragrant. Usually the stall holders will not pre-fried too many to ensure the quality of the you tiao is still maintained. At ninety cents per pair of it, it is already ideal to fill your stomach. They also sell soya bean milk which I also usually love to dip my pipping hot you tiao in it to give it another kind of taste and experience. Too bad the soya bean was not the best we can get in Singapore, which I think so.

Pink Guava and Pistacio Gelato OK Apr 24, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook

Newly opened at the West and decided to try it out. One of the best thing about this gelato stall is that the service staffs are really friendly and keeps on offering samplers to everyone who pass by the shops. I can really see how generous the owner of this Gelato shop really is. Tried both the pink guava and pistacio gelato, quite alright but think there are still some lacking to it. Or maybe I prefer those thicker and more milky version. The price is also quite high for a small cup of it will cost you four dollars and eighty cents already.

Carbonara With Egg Yolk And Bacon OK Apr 24, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Pasta

The first impression when the waiter serves me this dish I was full of hope and high expectation to it as the presentation looks pretty awesome and creative. However think I am just not too use to mixing a total raw egg to a cooked dish. The taste of this mixture is quite confused and not distinctive at all. Though the noodles are quite chewy and nice and the bacon used in cooking this dish is also fresh and juicy. Think the raw egg may be the spoiler for this 'look so good' dish. Or perhaps is because I am just not use to this kind of dish, simply cannot make up my mind on this.

Dumpling Noodles OK Apr 23, 2012
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

huffy

Really like to eat the dumpling noodles here as three huge dumplings are place on top of the noodles. Inside is filled with minced pork, crunchy prawns and sliced black fungus. The noodles is similar to those like the wanton noodles and is really chewy. The gravy used in this dish is the usual lightly seasoned sauce that does not really bring much special taste to it. The price is alright at five dollar and ninety cents per bowl, I think it is still consider affordable, but would be better if more vegetables and special seasoning is used in the making of this dish.
