GUILIN RESTAURANT Smile Jun 28, 2012

I was recommended to this restaurants by some of my friends. Have always seen the nice photos of the food that they ordered. I was quite attracted to the outlook of the foods and presentation. Thus, I decided to go there for an advanced Father's day dinner with my family.

The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of the sports hall. It is usually quite quiet on weekdays. Would recommended reservation for weekends or public holidays or special occasions.

We ordered Herbal prawns, prawn rolls, mongolian pork ribs, veg with tri eggs, beancurds with oats, crispy cod fish with salad and mango. I love the way the food are served. They are hot, presentable and best of all, delicious!! A must try is the Herbal prawns. The prawns are big and very fresh. The soup base is made of herbs and very tasty. To my surprise the pork ribs are boneless and very lean too. The seasoning are good. The beancurds are crispy on the outside, but very soft on the inside. Very well cooked by the chef. There are lots of oats on it too.. ;) The prawn rolls are very solid and comes with plum sauce. I love their 'heng cai' with the 3 eggs. The gravy consists of salted eggs, century eggs etc. You can eat it with white rice. It is very flavourful.

The price is very reasonable for a restaurant. One of the best restaurant I ever patronised. Thumbs up for this restaurant !

This is one of the top buffet in singapore in the well-known hotel (Shangri-La Hotel). It serves international seafood buffet. There are chinese, indian, italian, western, japanese style foods to choose from. I particularly love their seafood range. They have lobsters, scallops, crabs. They are very fresh and big. There are indian food such as Pratas, tandori chickens, beef, satays etc. The chicken are nice. There are waffles station. You can select different topping for your waffles (blueberry, chocolate, strawberries, chocolate chips, peanuts, maple syrup). I love their desserts too. They have lots of cakes, fruit tarts, mascarpones etc. I am a dessert lover so I tried most of their cakes. They are not too sweet. The salad bar is good. There are lots of selection. As for the pasta, you can select the type of pastas & sauce you want and the chef will cook it to your preference. Thumbs up for this buffet. The price is on the high side but worthwhile.

Wide spread of International buffet. There are lots of fresh seafoods such as yuppies, crabs, prawns, fish, oysters etc.. They are very fresh and I love the crab claws. They are quite big. Do try their herbal prawns soup. There are pasta sections whereby you can select the pasta you want, the sauce you prefer, spiciness etc. There are chinese cuisines as well. They have HK styled chicken too. The salad bars are good. I love the pastries there. There are nice desserts, fruits and fondue too. Yummy. U can choose from strawberries, marshmallows, grapes for their fondues. There are ice creams too. Great for desserts lovers!! There are 2 coffee machines too. you can choose the kind of coffees you want from the capsules (Mild to rich). It is usually quite crowded. Do remember to make a reservations before you head down to this restaurant. It is conveniently located in Orchard area. You can also check out on the discounts given by certain Credit cards. Highly recommended though it may be a bit ex. But it's worth the price.

Recommended for those western food lovers! Serve a wide range of western foods at an affordable price! Food is quite fresh and big servings of side dishes. Ordered grilled fish with 2 side dishes. (Coleslaw & 1 whole corn was given). Yummy! Avoid dinner time..as you will have to join the long queue. Try out their chargrilled chicken. Highly recommended.

MARU MARU CROQUETTE Smile Jun 29, 2012

Categories : Japanese

These are deep-fried mashed potatoes croquettes. They are very soft and there are 5 different types of filling. Ranging from beef, cheese, corns, crabs or chicken. You can choose different fillings as they are served in a cup. They also have 5 different types of sauces to choose from - namely Japanese BBQ, Japanese curry, Cheese sauce, Honey mustard, Mentai mayo. My fav is the Japanese BBQ and their cheese sauce. The texture of the crust is crispy due to the bread crumbs and the interior is very soft and smooth (mashed potatoes). It is very nice to eat with the sauces. A great creation and one of my favourite snacks when I goes to City Square mall.

The food is prepared only when you ordered them. So it is served hot. But do be careful when eating it, as it can be very hot internally.

Highly recommended !!
