CLAYPOT RICE Smile May 07, 2012

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Restaurant

A famous claypot rice locatedat 639 Geylang lor 33. They only serve 1 type of claypot rice (it comes with chicken, salted fish, sausages and waxed pork). It tastes quite nice. Usual waiting time is around 30-45mins. However, you can call in advance (30 mins before you reach there), then the food will be served quite fast. You can order some side dishes such as their long beans, steamed fish. The steamed fish is quite good. It is seasoned with light soy sauce and its not too salty. I like their long beans. It has lots of fried dried minced shrimps on it and it is very crispy. The price is average.

This is a Thai restaurant located in Killiney (Orchard area). They serve ala carte buffet. The food here are authenic Thai food. It is a small & cosy restaurant. There are a list of food that you can order for the buffet. However, some of the foods can only be ordered once. It inchludes the tom yum soup with prawns, boneless stuffed chicken wing, thai styled chicken satay, chicken wrapped in pandan leaves, deep fried squid with garlic etc. They will ask you what kind of dishes you want and they will serve you all the dishes that can only be served once first. After that, you can choose whatever dishes you want from the list. The chicken satay is very nice. They use lean chicken meat. The chicken in pandan leaves is nice too as there is pandan leave fragrance when you eat it. As for the tom yum soup is good. Sour and spicy. There are prawns, lemongrass, mushrooms in it. I love their green mango salad. It is very nice and sour. There are peanuts in it. The salads are self service. You can scoop them at the salad counter. The thai red ruby is filled with crunchy waterchest and not too sweet. The steamed tapioca is very tasty. It is so nice that we order twice. The price is very reasonable. They have free flow of lime juice & pineapple rice.

This is one of the top buffet in singapore in the well-known hotel (Shangri-La Hotel). It serves international seafood buffet. There are chinese, indian, italian, western, japanese style foods to choose from. I particularly love their seafood range. They have lobsters, scallops, crabs. They are very fresh and big. There are indian food such as Pratas, tandori chickens, beef, satays etc. The chicken are nice. There are waffles station. You can select different topping for your waffles (blueberry, chocolate, strawberries, chocolate chips, peanuts, maple syrup). I love their desserts too. They have lots of cakes, fruit tarts, mascarpones etc. I am a dessert lover so I tried most of their cakes. They are not too sweet. The salad bar is good. There are lots of selection. As for the pasta, you can select the type of pastas & sauce you want and the chef will cook it to your preference. Thumbs up for this buffet. The price is on the high side but worthwhile.

Categories : Shanghainese | Dim Sum

This is a shanghainese restaurant. The must try dish is of course their Steamed bun (xiao long bao). It consists of meat and soup inside. There are 8 different fillings to choose from. They have Fresh pork filling, Crab meat & pork filling, Mushrooms, Vegetable & pork filling, Shrimp & pork filling, Crab roe & Pork Filling, Crab roe, Shark fin & Pork Filling flavours. The price range is from $6.00 to $12.80 for 6 pcs. You can even try the King size steamed bun. I love the soup in the steamed bun. It is very fresh and light. Before you eat the bun, you can create a small hole in the bun first, then drink the soup. After that, you can enjoy the steamed bun with the filling. The skin of the bun is quite thin too. I love their Golden fried rice too. It is topped with lots of floss as you can see from the photo itself. The rice is fried till fragrant. Their wasabi prawns is good. The prawns are very springy and the wasabi sauce is fantastic. Its not overpowering. I love their osmanthus flower sticky cake. It has the fragrance of the flowers and taste good when you eat it cold. Try out their golden pumpkin cake. Its good too! Overall, I like the food over there. Highly recommended for their steamed buns & dim sum.

Categories : Bakery

I purchased the online vouchers. I went to OUB centre to redeem the buns. These are fresh buns with nice toppings. There are lots of flavours to choose from. I think that there are around 25 flavours. I decided to try their Junior banana, junior cheese and strawberry, junior cheddar, junior chocolate fudge, junior chocolate and almond and last but not the least their cinnamon flavour. I love most of the flavours. It comes with real fruits topping. The banana are quite soft, the chocolate ones are quite rich, the cheese are nice. The cinnamon ones are not too sweet. bought the voucher at a good price. It costs $6.30 (comes with 6 flavoured buns & 2 FOC cinnamon buns).
