Best tim sum in the east Smile Aug 03, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

Went to this restaurant at tampines 1 level 2 for lunch today. This restaurant is always crowded during lunch hour and we had to queue for a table. I love their tim sum, they are very fresh, juicy and tasty.

This is rose chicken with spring onion sauce(玫瑰鸡), the chicken pieces were very well marinated and tender and left a nice aftertaste.

This is bun with salted egg filling(流沙包). The warm filling flows out after the first bite into it, heavenly!

This is my favourite tim sum there, mushroom siew mai(香菇烧卖). Chunks of prawns and mushrooms pieces are used to make this exquisite tim sum.

This is xiao long bao(小笼包). The skin is thin and the soup in it was very fresh and tasty.

My family actually wanted to drive to Safra at Tanah Merah to have dinner on that day, but missed a turn and drove to this nice place which is near the seaside. We found this restaurant(open air) which sells Zi Char dishes, so we decided to have our dinner there since the price is reasonable after looking at the menu.

We ordered four dishes: salted egg yolk crabs, sambal sweet potato leaves, spinach cooked in stock with three types of eggs, beef and bittergourd hor fun.

The spinach came first, we all love this dish, it was so tasty that we finished this whole plate quickly before the next dish of sambal sweet potato leaves arrived to our table.

The sweet potato leaves and the hor fun tasted just ok only, I have tasted very good ones, so these two dishes did not meet my expectation.

The last dish came and it was the salted egg yolk crabs. I have tasted this dish from several restaurants before and I would say this is the best among them all. It was so nice that I wanted to swallow the whole shell into my stomach, it was really finger licking good!

Mango shaved ice OK Jul 09, 2012
Categories : Singaporean | Stall / Kiosk | Desserts and Cakes

This outlet located at century square basement one has a small sitting area for its customers.

I ordered mango shaved ice and steamed milk pudding to share with my son.

My son loved the mango shaved ice and finished the whole tub by himself, I only get to taste one mouthful of that.

The mango pieces tasted fresh and sweet, and I find the shaved ice had a nice smell and tasted sweet too, I think they must have added some kind of syrup to it.

I ate the steam milk pudding and felt sick of it after eating a few mouthful. I just don't like it.

late night supper Smile Jul 09, 2012

Categories : Food Court | Zi Char | BBQ

My family went to e-hub for a show and proceeded to Asli Village for supper after that.

We ordered bbq stingray, mutton satay, stir fried kailan and boiled gong gong (a kind of shellfish that its flash has to be dug out using a long stick).

The stingray was fresh and I love the dipping chilli that came with it, whereas the dipping chilli for the gong gong was a bit sweet to my taste.

I find their satays taste ok only, I have tasted good ones before, so I set my standard a bit high for the satays.

These four dishes cost about S$35 after 10% discount using nebo card (under ntuc) which I think is a reasonable price.

Tasty sambal chilli Smile Jul 09, 2012
Categories : Singaporean | Restaurant

I love this restaurant's nasi lemak, especially the sambal chilli that comes with it. I often order their breakfast nasi lemak set which is a smaller portion that includes a cup of coffee or tea.

I went there a bit late today and it was past the breakfast hour, so I can only order their nasi lemak through ala carte menu.

This set of nasi lemak that I ordered has a chicken thigh, a few pieces of crackers, cured squid pieces, ikan billis and cucumber slices. The rice that was cooked with coconut milk was fragrant and taste yummy with the sambal chilli.

I asked for more sambal chilli to go along with my big plate of nasi lemak today.
