tender and juicy wings OK Jun 21, 2012
Categories : Food Court | BBQ

Huat Huat BBQ is fondly known for its succulent and juicy chicken wings that are freshly barbecued to golden brown. The barbecued chicken comes with fresh lime to enhance the sweetness of the chicken wings. For those who like the additional kick, try it with their chilli sauce.

BBQ Chicken Wings @ S$1.30 each (min 3 pcs)

The BBQ chicken wings are nicely cooked, tender and juicy. The chilli sauce on the other hand was not so flavorsome, a little diluted.

not too bad fried hokkien mee OK Jun 21, 2012

Categories : Food Court | Noodles

With over 40 years of history, Thye Hong insisted on serving its fare on Opei leaves specially imported from Malaysia and Indonesian. The leaf infuses a subtle, woody fragrance to enhance the taste of the noodles. What's more, Thye Hong was hand-picked by the Singapore Tourism Board to showcase his Char Kway Teow as one of our nation's most celebrated local specialties at the Culinary Institute of America in California.

Fried Prawn Noodle @ S$6.80

The noodles are tasty but too much rice noodles. It would be perfect if they could use a balance of white (rice) and yellow noodles. The taste could be complimented if the "sambal chilli" was spicier.

decent buffet  OK Jun 21, 2012

- The Shop
COCA 'Suki' Steamboat is a Thai-style 'Suki' steamboat dining. The name "COCA" which comes from the Chinese word "Kekou", meaning "appetizing" has two branch in Singapore location at International Building and Takashimaya.

They are well-known for its signature Coca sauce, made from a secret family recipe over 50 years ago. Besides the buffet steamboat menu, there are also signature dishes like the original fish glue, house special dumpling and other seafood for sampling and cooked ala carte dishes.

If you are holding a family gathering or company function, they have 4 Private Rooms in the Takashimaya branch.

- The Food
Lunch Buffet is @ Adults - $23++ | Children - $17++ | Senior Citizen (above 60yrs old) Promotion - $17++ | Student Promotion - $17++

Dinner Buffet is @ Adults - $38++ | Children - $23++ | Senior Citizen (above 60yrs old) Promotion - $28++

There are 3 soup base available - Clear Chicken Broth, Tom Yum Soup and top up additional $13 for Herbal Chicken Soup (with half spring chicken).

A standard round of dishes will be served, then you can re-order other dishes in the buffet menu as much as you can eat.

The food are decent, meats are not marinade, most of the seafood are fresh but not for the fish head which has a strong fishy smell.

The chilli sauce was not as good as before, less spicy and more sweet now. The Fish Glue, House Special Shrimp Ball, House Special Dumpling and Green Noodle are not to be miss! Beef Fillet are slice too thick, other meats were decent.

- My Opinion
I have visited the Coca Restaurant at Bangkok, Thailand, the food there are cheaper and more varieties of food on the buffet menu compare to Singapore. Then again, its on different currency.

I frequent Coca Restaurant quite often in the past, but had not dine there for the past... 6-years or more. The soup still taste pretty much the same and the tom yum is getting better. The steamboat food are quite standard as they are raw and does not require any marinade. We did not order the cooked ala carte so I can't comment much.

Service was very slow and not attentive. Perhaps this is due to Mother's Day crowd, the restaurant is super busy, subsequent round of food took 15-20min to arrive and we are seated in the VIP room where all the crews won't be able to see us unless they come to check our room more often.

ma la pot OK Jun 13, 2012
Categories : Sichuan | Food Court | Steamboat/Hot Pot

They do not have a wide range of items for you to select, few type of veggies, 3 type of meat and some seafood. You pick your own ingredients @ $3.50-$4.50 per 100g, and they will stir-fry with the ma la sauce. There are 3 levels of spiciness.

We had pork, cabbage, fungus, peanuts and their basic ingredients and sauce for about $21.70. Its huge enough for 3pax to share.

When eating Ma La Pot you will notice that the flavours appear richer and more intense... Expect to have some numbness. We had middle level of spiciness and it was ok for me, lots of black pepper taste thou. It will be perfect if the ma la is more flavorful, beside the dried chilli and black pepper, there isn't much taste to it.

- The Shop

The counter sales and takeaways Japanese-inspired bakery which prides on being cheerful to customers, delighting with it's not-so-sweet signature fruit rolls, tarts and other desserts.

Naomi Kitchen was formed on 1 April 2010 at Golden Mile Hawker Centre. She was borne because of her daddy's passion in business and her mum's passion in baking. When the two passions met with 'belief', they created Naomi. Naomi is named because the owners want her to provide food lovers "enjoyment, pleasure or gratification" with their products. Therefore, during their product development stage, they emphasis on both taste and visual appeal.

One of Naomi's signature product is Fruit Roll whereby fresh cream & fresh fruits are used in their cake roll. This creates a different yet unique look & taste from the usual swiss roll. For e.g.,Peaches are married with Mango to provide a good match.

Naomi Kitchen will be opening a new branch at #B1-16, White Sand, Pasir Ris on 13 June 2012. Visit their new store to enjoy opening discount!

Customised Special Design - Branded Design Rolls (Gucci) @ S$28

The addition of different design simply give the normal plain looking swiss roll a new life. The rolls with special designs add joy to the celebration especially during festive season.

Chicken Shepherd Pie (Regular) @ S$2.80

The chicken pie has curry fragrance (to me) but there is no curry powder in it! It was decent and has peppery taste.

Mixed Fruit Slice Cake @ S$3.00

Let the good times roll with this delectable vanilla soft sponge with layer of light fresh cream and chunks of fresh mixed fruits and topped with fresh mixed fruits. Surely an irresistible treat to send to anyone special or serve when you spend a quality time with your family and friends.

Black Forest Slice Cake @ S$2.80

Black Forest Cake is a delicious dessert the whole family will love. This luscious black forest cake has a soft sponge with a layer of light cream and chunks of cherries, topped with thin layer of whipped cream and garnished with some cocoa powder and chocolate bites.

Berries/Grape Cheese Cake @ S$2.20
The Berries Cheese Cake melted before we can have a good shot of it (too busy snapping all the desserts!) so here is the grape cheese cake which is the same except the other one is topped with berries. I am both chocolate and cheesecake lover but the cheesecake taste different from the usual one I eat/bake, maybe this is their secret recipe? ;p

Fruit & Yam Rolls

They all are topped with fine powdery sugar filled with lightly scented cream.
Fruit rolls are wrapped around a generous filling with big bites of fruits. There are different flavors such as durian, mango peach, pumpkin etc too.

Fruit Tarts, Chocolate Tarts, Cheese Tarts

These tarts are one of their specialty.
Don't you find their specialty tarts so beautiful looking? It's too pretty to be eaten!

Tiramisu @ S$4.50

Tiramisu was decent, I will prefer a richer taste.

- My Opinion
From daily bites with different flavour of fruit rolls to special occasion product - design roll for birthday, christmas, cny etc... All the rolls and cakes was fluffy soft, light cream and fruits are fresh.

Oh, don't forget to try their latest creative which is the branded design rolls to impress your guest!
