Brunch at Nosh Smile Dec 28, 2013

Tomato soup

Mushroom Soup

Earl Grey Tea

Duck Confit Crepe

hearty breakfast

Carbcake benedict

sticky date cake

Cheesecake

Went to Nosh for brunch with family. Since we had a gift card, we had a 3 course meal for 2 which include a soup, main course and dessert. I really liked the amibience there as the place gives a very relax garden feel. Both soup were rich and creamy. The duck confit crepe was super delicious, the sauce went very well with the whole crepe. I was a little disappointed in the crabcake benedict as it is one of their signature dish. There was a clash of flavours nonethless but I just didn't really like it. The desserts were also very nice the sticky date cake was appropriately sweet and the cheesecake was quite special too.

I recommend people who love to brunch to try out Nosh!

Dim Sum at Swee Choon Smile Dec 28, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum

Swee Choon have been a famous dim sum supper place and I just got to try it with my friends, not for supper but for dinner.

We ordered both carrot cake and the fried mee sua (pancake?), I think the fried mee sua pancake was really nice and the carrot cake was very normal compared to it.

Overall the variety of dimsum and many other dishes was quite alot and it was a nice meal. The price was also reasonable. But my friends and I over ordered so in the end we had a hard time finishing the food.

Modern twist to Chinese Cuisine Smile Dec 28, 2013

Won the grandstand vouchers from the Grandstand contest and went to MAD to try out the food here. We ordered a fried rice, pork belly, spring row, char siew su, chee cheong fun, baked char siew bao and red bean pancake to share. The dishes was quite nice and especially the red bean pancake. It was really crispy and the red bean paste was just nice.

The prices are more expensive and the portion is relatively smaller as compared to the other Chinese restaurants out there. I would say it is slightly toward chinese fine dining and it was worth the try.

Lunch Buffet at Starz OK Dec 28, 2013

My family went to Starz for their lunch buffet after we went to the S.E.A aquarium. I think the buffet spread was so so and the selection was quite limited. The seafood selection had oyster and they had a sashimi spread too. They also had drunken prawn and other cooked local food like laksa. The desserts was also disappointing.

But the refill of the dishes was really slow. For the same price, there are better buffets as they lack a main 'attraction' to remember them by. Since it is just a regular hotel buffet, I think there are better buffets to go to with the same price.

All day breakfast at Wild Honey Smile Dec 28, 2013

Categories : Western Variety | Café | Desserts and Cakes | Brunch

Wild Honey is one of the hottest go-to place to eat All Day breakfast. The place is quite small so walk in would require waiting time especially on weekends. The food was really nice but the price is slightly steep. I think the hollandaise sauce was delicious and the poached egg was done perfectly.

Overall, the concept is quite interesting as the dish names are named after countries and a short description. But I think there are other cafes that offers same quality or better with the price paid.
