Ban Mian OK Dec 07, 2012

Categories : Singaporean | Food Court

The ban mian actually does not taste as good as I expected - It is way too soft and the sizes are totally off - some are too thick while some are too thin . I don't mean for them to be of exact size, but at least similar size that are not totally , entirely different - this is because the cooking time for various different thickness of ban mian is different . Some would either be under cook or over cook. - THIS, is my main concern.
The soup, however, taste good. Maybe because of the msg, maybe not. But I don't really feel thirsty after drinking the soup - but I did drank plain water after that.
The vegetables should be given more - i asked for more, but none was like given .

Mua chee & tutu kueh Smile Dec 07, 2012
Categories : Singaporean | Kids-Friendly

Bought the mua chee as I was seriously craving for something chewy and peanut at the same time. The mua chee turns out really, super soft and don't really have the chewy texture that I am looking out for. But this goes to show that it is really good for elderly as they can digest is faster as well. The peanut are soft and really grated way too finely. If you like it, you like it.

The tutu kueh to my surprise are quite thick compared to others and/or pasar malam ones. Out of five, three of the fillings are normal, and there are more flour while the other two have abundant amount of peanuts in it. - GREAT.

--MUA CHEE SGD 2
--TUTU KUEH SGD 2.5

Char siew rice with more sauce Smile Dec 07, 2012

Yes, the sauce is abundant - scary . But really , I love it when my sauce is this much . It taste and go really well with refined white rice especially when the rice is not too hard but a little bit softer than usual and a little bit sticky like how japanese and korean prepare their rice.
The sauce in this case, may be a little bit saltier than what I would expect but overall it is still good as the sauce has the sweet taste that can help to cover the salty taste by a little bit.
The char siew is seriously to little , I mean, it could be more if they were to slice it this thin.

Wanton mee  Smile Dec 07, 2012

This is really nice .
The mee is soft and at the same time have the chewy texture.
The char siew is also not too hard like other places char siew which taste like a stone (exaggerating).
The wanton is very smooth and it can just slide down you throat - yes it is that smooth .
Even though the wanton may be a lot smaller, but it still tastes nice.
The soup will be better if they could remove or add less oil when preparing it smile

Kaya and butter toast Smile Dec 07, 2012

The bread is really flaky and crispy - this meant that a lot of fats are added to the process of bread making.
You enjoy this type of bread? Then I have to tell you the truth , it actually contains more fat than you think.
The kaya and butter merge well together. I especially like it when I put one mouthful of the part of bread where mot butter is and just savor it. It taste really good - sinfully good.
