Vietnamese Noodle Smile Jul 06, 2012

Categories : Vietnamese | Noodles

This is one of the 2 Vietnamese Cafe at Suntec. I heard good reviews at this place and decided to try this place We order 2 noodle sets at $14 each. To upgrade the starter to chicken wings, instead of spring rolls or summer rolls, add $3. We ordered 1 sets of Beef Ball Pho and another Crab Meat Pho. It includes 1 drink and you can choose Vietnamese Coffee or Ice Lemon Tea.

Summer Roll is the healthy version of Spring Rolls. Boiled prawns, rice noodles and herbs are wrapped using Vietnamese Rice paper. Each plate has 2 rolls per plate. The plain taste is enhanced by the dipping sauce. Dipping sauce is made of fish sauce, rice vinegar and cut chilies.

Chicken Wings is nicely marinated and lightly fried and a tasty treats.

Sis had the Beef Ball Pho which comes in a big bowl with thin kway teoh.

My Crab Meat Pho was generous with the crab meat, medium size prawns and chicken accompanied by tomato and Bee Hoon. The soup was very tasty but I find the portion too big for me to finished.

The cafe offered value for money set from $14 and the food is tasty and big portion.

$2 Bak Kut Teh OK Jul 06, 2012

$2 Bak Kut Teh

$2 Bak Kut Teh

This may be the cheapest Bak Kut Teh you can find in Singapore. At $2 a bowl, you get 5 pieces of meaty and tender pork ribs. The soup has a light herb taste, and may look oily with small pockets of oil floating on top of the bowl but actually it is not oily. The soup is decent and tasty. For an extra 30 cents, you get a small bowl of rice. The dark sauce is not the good quality thick dark sauce but a watered down version which is acceptable at this price. You get a nutritious meal for less than $2.50 which is a steal.

Upmarket Sushi Smile Jun 15, 2012
Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

This is one of the newer Japaneses Restaurant in Changi Airport T3. It sells upmarket Sushi, Sashimi, Hand Rolls, Tempura Udon, Tonkatsu Don etc.

We order a mixed of sushi, noodles and rice bowl to try.
Curry Prawn Sushi

Curry Prawn Sushi

I ordered the Tempura Prawn with curry which has nice crunchy prawn coated in batter with mild curry powder for you to dipped your sushi. The Roasted Egg with Lobster is one of my favourite , you actually get cubes of lobster meat coated in curry sauce stuffed between egg omelette. When you bite into this combination, the egg is soft and the lobster has a nice bit and the curry sauce is not spicy.

We also ordered smoked duck sushi and tofu with crab meat sauce. The tofu dish was a bit plain, it has fish roe and crab meat which is better if you bit it together with the tofu.

This place sells upmarket Sushi with different type of fish, for example a piece of Roasted Blue Fin Fatty Tuna at $7.50 each. To try assorted sushi, you can get the Natsu Sushi set at $30.90. You can get cheaper sushi such as Spicy Salmon at $1 each.
Tempura Udon

Tempura Udon

Mum order the Tempura Udon which comes with a bowl of pipping hot udon and a separate plate of Tempura consisting of 2 crispy battered prawns, egg plants and mushroom.
Tonkatsu Don

Tonkatsu Don

The Tonkatsu Don and Grilled Eel with Scrambled Egg is similar except the topping is different. The Tonkatsu has pork cutlet while the latter is Grilled Eel. The dish is tasty but too much sauce topping were added making it too salty even though I eat it with rice.

Cupcakes@Changi Airport. OK Jun 15, 2012

Categories : Stall / Kiosk | Desserts and Cakes

This is a new shop selling cupcakes at Changi Airport T3. It took over the shop that used to sells dessert. They had a promotion just before closing, 3 cupcakes for $6.

I like the design of the box which hold 3 cupcakes in place, except that I found the box too big just to hold 3 cupcakes. It has a window on top of the box where you can peek into your cupcakes.
Cup Cakes

Cup Cakes

I picked 3 different flavors to try, they are Blueberry, Red Velvet, & Green Tea. The texture of the cupcakes is soft and fluffy. On top of each cupcake comes with cream. The red velvet cupcake base is just like normal sponge cake.

Overall the cupcake taste not bad and look decent but nothing fantastic.

Categories : Indian

We had some overseas visitor who wanted to eat Fish Head Curry, so we decided to come here for dinner.
Fish Cutlets

Fish Cutlets

For Starter, we ordered fish cutlets. The fish cutlet is made of minced fish, potato and Indian spices and lightly coated and fried. It is quite solid with a nice bite.
Masala Prawns

Masala Prawns

The Masala Prawns are medium prawns cooked in chilies, and spices. The fried prawns are fresh and coated with spices paste. If you like prawns and can take spice, I recommend this dish.
Fish Head Curry

Fish Head Curry

Curry Fish Head is Muthu Signature dishes. It is cooked in Southern Indian Style, cooked with pineapple and lady fingers. The fish head has a lot of fish meat and lots of gravy which is spicy and sour. This is their award winning dishes.
Masala Chicken

Masala Chicken

The Masala Chicken has a spicy thick paste coating the chicken. It is like a dry curry and goes well with rice or naans.
Biryani Rice

Biryani Rice

To go with the spicy dishes, we order Biryani Rice, Kashmiri Naans and Garlic Naans. Biryani Rice light yellow colour comes from Saffron and uses Basmatic Rice. The Kashmiri Naan are Indian Flat bread topped with mixed fruits. Both are a nice complement with curry.
