Good choice for single lunch Smile May 14, 2011

Saturday afternoon at Tanjong Pagar area, it was around 3pm, you could imagine how quiet it would be. I was starving, very obviouse!

My stomach was too empty, I urgently needed some food. Most of the eating places at TP Mrt were closed, I tried my luck to walk further and saw this was still open, there were 2 couples dining.

The friendly staff greeted me and I ordered my same old favourite, mushroom soup~regular size. Due to my urgency of food, I added hummus wrapped too. Oh, I didn't expect the portion was quite big to me.

Mushroom soup was the same taste, same consistency, having a bowl could filled up my stomach 80%. I was looking at the hummus wrapped, how was I going to finish it off! I tried my best and off I cleaned the plate tongue. Good was the meal contained no meat. I was really contented.

While I was enjoying my food slowly, the 2 couples left the restaurant. The friendly staff won't come to bother me, they just let me stayed whenever I wanted.

McSpicy meal Smile May 02, 2013

Hardly patronise McDonalds, why not give it a try on their curly fries and McSpicy this time. Sometime, I feel like to have some deep fried food, it would satisfy my graving for crispy stuff.

One set meal is considered big to me, it could fill me up to the throat. Anyway, we can’t always look into our diet too straight. We can relax a bit when we like to.

Forget about the calorie count of this meal offer, I started to have a big bit on the burger, yummy yummy, mayonnaise, crispy lettuce and spicy crispy fried chicken, it was wonderful and fulfilling. I have no regret on finishing it. Here come the curly fries, um…it was just fine to me. I personally still prefer the traditional straight fries, it has better texture. Whereas, curly fries is a bit too dry to my liking.

Finish the whole meal with icy coke light, it was really satisfying.

Before we decided to have dinner at Watami, we called up a few places for buffet dinner, they were all full-house, so we have to change our dinning place to Watami. I like this place because their variety of choices and reasonable prices.

We reached there around 6+pm, it was still early for dinner. Right from entering the place, all service staff would greet us in Japanese “Welcome”. I bought this meal for our office’s cleaning auntie, she is so good to me and chat with me whenever we have time. With her age, she can’t eat raw fish or big meal, so she just chose a bowl of Nagasaki ramen. I chose Konbu Dashi Nabe, a shabu shabu dish, it contains fatty pork, chicken, scallop and clam are the main ingredients. I added Teppen Bou Gyoza, it has mince pork and shrimp+black fungus, quite a big gyoza with generous filling.

Auntie likes her ramen so much as ingredients are generous with shrimp, pork and veggie, bone soup based is thick and rich, she says it isn’t thirsty after the meal.

I like my shabu shabu too, meats are raw when serve and cook in front of diner with a mini steamboat stove, service staff would refill soup if it has less. Ingredients are fresh. Soup is a bit too salty to my taste.

Gyoza is fried with a lace floured, it is crispy at the side and soft inside. Best eating it when hot, once it is cooled down, the oil taste is too strong and dough skin becomes tough. I soak it in the shabu shabu broth, it helps to soften the skin and better in texture.

When we finished our meal, the restaurant was filled with full of diners. It is a popular place though.

Crispy tenderloin chop Smile Dec 14, 2011

It was Takashimaya’s pre-Christmas sale weekend. The place was packed with customers. Most of the eateries were filled with dinners, finding a seat wasn’t easy. Couldn’t think too much, I just queued at this stall for my late lunch. Once I placed my order, they would find a seat for me, it eased my worry in finding my seat while dining alone.

Furthermore, I like the serving lady’s costume, they dress like a maid-on-wait. This is a place I have been patronising for numerous times. I would return whenever I wanted to have something crispy. So far they have not let me down on food or services.

The way they deep fried the breadcrumbs, it is one of the best cutlet in Singapore. Though they are using frozen pork, I am fine with it as my main concern is their crispy breadcrumbs. The shredded cabbage is serving generous portion, it clears the oiliness taste after eating the cutlet. Frankly the whole meal is really big for small diners, I normally combine 2 meals for this big meal. So I would try my best to finish the whole meal.

The accompany miso soup is fine too, it isn’t too salty or bland, it is just right. The rest of the ingredients are up to the standard. This is the place I would keep returning.

Singapore breakfast Smile Dec 14, 2011

Finally my busy work weeks was over, I managed to take few days leave to exhale. I chose to go Taiwan for 5 days on my own this time. Though I have been Taipei twice already, I still wanted to see more Taiwan, my destinations this time were Taichung, Kaohsiung and Taipei. Due to my flights to and fro were at Taoyuan airport, therefore I have to stopover at Taipei. Anyway, my flight was quite early, as usual I rushed to airport with empty stomach. After all check-in procedure done, I could have a cup of coffee and toast for my breakfast. I chose Killiney most of the time because their reasonable prices matched with good taste.

I have kaya toast and coffee si with less sugar. Coffee was smooth and not so sweet, I could request for stronger coffee if I wanted, I didn’t do so this time as I just wanted something light. Kaya toast was more or less the same, I requested not to put butter, they did so. I was happy with their breakfast all the times.
