Early dinner Smile Aug 03, 2011

We were walking around the shopping mall and decided to have an early dinner at 4+pm. Searching for dinner idea, we saw this restaurant with 1~2 table dinners only.

We noted that the prices of their steaks were reasonable. The service crew carried a smile when we made our orders. Wait not long the meals were served. Presentation and potion wise were fine. I have my steak in medium and my friend has his in rare! Both steaks were cooked to the right requirement, rare was really rare, almost could see blood. Beef must be fresh then could serve in rare otherwise it could taste like dead meat. Side dishes were well proportion. We both like the baked potato with sour cream.

This is value for money steak, worth to return in future.

Sunday buffet lunch Smile Jul 14, 2011

Categories : Fusion | Multi-Cuisine | Seafood | Buffet | Kids-Friendly

My mom and I like to have relaxing meal on Sunday. I browsed the web for idea, buffet fits the bill. Most of the buffet lunch last till 2:30pm, we want to have a long lunch. Todai is the longest so far, from 11:30am till 4:00pm and the price is right too.

MBS is our first visit today, the shopping mall seems a bit big to us, we almost lost our way to the restaurant. We reached there just in time, they started to let us in, some of the service crews standing at the entrance greeted us, they greeted in Korean. We were led to our seats, along the way, chefs would greet us too. When I made the booking over the phone, they reminded me there was a 10% discount in July as well as we sat down in the restaurant, they reminded us again.

We were happy with their food choices and variety, comprises of cold dishes, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Korean, fruits and desserts. I especially like their cooked food isn’t contain msg, it is a +! Their oyster is freshly open and serve, it tastes sweet. Snow crab legs refill from time to time, no lack of supply. Sashimi is also freshly slice when order, they serve variety of suchi too, definitely spoil by the choice. Thin pizzas are freshly baked from the oven, taste good. Don’t miss out their ginseng tempura, it tastes unique.

I felt really happy with this restaurant because I could taste the authentic Korean marinated seafood, it has squid, baby oyster, fish roe and clam, they were raw and hardly could find it here, though they weren’t common food we consumed, at last I could taste it. Another food is Korean炸醬麵, finally I could taste it here, they used authentic Korean noodle.

Last but not least, one of my favourite fruit Lychee was serving no stop, they were fresh, sweet and juicy, I have 20 fruits!

We agree that the price they charge is reasonable. Service is good, service crews are polite, they clear our plates as soon as we finish our food. Overall experience was good and happy. We will return if I longer for authentic unique Korean marinated seafood.

Casual Japanese dinning Smile Jun 27, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

I like to dine at Watami for their affordable prices and variety dishes. To keep me return is their courteous services and dinning atmosphere. Have been patronised their other outlets, no disappointment though.

This time we have ordered scallop sashimi, it was freshly sliced and taste sweetness. Mixed sushi was also taste right. Probably my friend and I don’t like rich sauce, (forgot the name of the dish covered by thick sauce) that was the only dish we didn’t like it, the sauce was too much for our liking.

We will return when we want to have causal Japanese food.

Japanese Ala Carte Buffet  OK Jun 23, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Hotel | Buffet

We first visited this restaurant in Feb 2011, it was charging S$33++, 2 of us were happy with our meal then. Due to the location, we can’t go back so often but surprisingly the restaurant is overwhelmed by public.

We decided to go back on this Tuesday, I thought we didn’t need to make a reservation as it is a normal weekday. We reached there 5 minutes before 6pm, it wasn’t open and we noted that price has increased to S$35++. Sharp 6pm the restaurant is open, there were a group of Japanese stepped in the private room already. It was to our surprise the restaurant was fully booked but the waitress was good and gave us a table till 7:30pm.

Once we sat down they started to place orders for us as they were aware of our time limit. The menu mainly has sashimi, sushi, handrolls , plenty maki, tempura, cooked, noodle/rice, salad, etc. First we ordered mix sashimi, they were serving 6 types of sashimi, standard maintained, menu has yellow tail but it was disappeared from our plate. 2 types of handroll serve, salmon skin and California, both were OK. Ramen, yakitori chicken can skip. We liked the tempura this time as batter was thin and crispy, it didn’t have the oily feel, we ate 3 plates! We did try some other foods too, they were fine. While we were eating, they served teapot chicken broth but it was warm only. After some while they served salmon miso soup, serving with flame so it was hot and taste good. Around 7:15pm a waitress reminded us for last order, then 7:30pm a waitress politely stressed that we could finished our food on our own time but the guess has already arrived.

Menu has not changed, service is good, an aunty is mainly serving drinks, seating wise, though the restaurant is small we still have our own space. We may not go back again as we are consistently looking for something new, this is good unless someone likes the same food. Having said that this is a very popular Japanese al a carte buffet restaurant, both visits were full house.

Salmon fin Smile Jun 10, 2011

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

I like this Japanese chain restaurant more than other groups. Probably their menu is more approaching to me, they have variety of bento, udon, sushi, etc. There are so many items to choose from, it could be their variety of choices attract crowds during meal time, I usually try to avoid the peak time so that I can enjoy my meal peacefully. So far, I patronise the same chain restaurant at other locations, their service are good.

While I am dinning out alone, I normally would choose their salmon in miso soup with rice. It is really good for one person serving. They give generous fried salmon pieces, mix veggie and tofu, miso soup tastes just right, add one bowl of rice to make it a meal set. Salmon has its distinct flavour when it is cooked, it always put me off in eating it, but this one was coated with a light batter than deep fried, the distinct flavour goes off. Plus miso soup does some help in enhancing other ingredients flavour. I could finish the whole bowl and rice every time. It is a satisfying meal though.
