This joint is supposed to be inspired by indie cafes in japan, perfect for that afternoon quiet meal. With its nice decoration within its interior, it actually helps one's mind relax. The 2nd floor i heard is also good for hosting small functions. I like their menu design, done like a caricature style IMO.

I ordered the chicken a la cordon bleu $17.90 and an ice latte for lunch. Its a classic fried chicken breast with succulent ham and cheese ham filling, greens on the side. Presentation wise it was above average and the chicken dish was looking nice golden brown. But i felt it actually loses out to charly-t one, the accompanying sauce also does not compliment the chicken. The ice latte drink was average. Like mentioned earlier, i think its the relaxing ambiance that makes the whole experience better. My friend had the all day breakfast and mint tea. total bill adds up to be $49.10. If i were to gripe on something, its that the waitress make me walk to the counter to pay and not sending the bill to the customer. I know its just 2 steps away but that will go a long mile for good customer service.

Floating Anchovies OK Jul 22, 2013

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Hawker Centre | Noodles

$4 signature set meal is my choice of lunch at this not-so-crowded hawker centre. What you get is yam rice, duck meat, tau kuah, half an egg,6 peanuts and a bit of kiam chye. Always remember to try out the chilli provided which includes anchovies inside but less the oil. if the queue and crowd permits, spend some time fishing the floating anchovies smile Soup is herbal based, but pretty much standard yukee style.

Share with all the prices Kopi $1.40, Kopi-O $1.30, Teh Bing $1.80 and teh c is $1.50. 2 slices of toast bread will cost you $1.90 with the standard kaya and butter. Nice cosy place just like YaKun at B1, in fact the big mirrors on the wall gives the place an illusion of being very big. i must say the coffee and teh c standard is not as good as YaKun though. But the toast bread is comparable. Way of ordering is pay at the counter, collect a queue number and wait to be served.

More Coconut Milk Please OK Jul 05, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Food Court | Chicken Rice

Was here for a business appointment when the name of the food court caught my eye, Lan Kwai Fong. Hoping to see many HK cuisine but did not see any. Anyway this chicken rice stall caught my eye. Wanted to try their curry chicken even though the signature dish is chicken rice. The menu actually shows it as curry chicken noodle but i requested for rice instead which was obliged by the owner, thumbs up. They also offered me chicken rice instead of the usual plain white rice too.

The chicken curry could have been better, a little too diluted and could have been better if more coconut milk was used, but the chicken parts taste ok, though its apparent the chicken parts have not been cooked in the currey for long, it was nicely biteful and not too fat. The potato was fine as well. Hope they can work on their curry gravy sauce. Will try their chicken rice set next time. My curry chicken set cost $4.

Long Queue OK Jun 17, 2013
Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

This stall is helmed by 2 brothers working hand-in-hand...but they dun talk much...going along the noodle preparation by reading the indicators on the bowl, either with strand of noodle, or even using bottle caps to indicate the use of ketchup etc. Was here for supper on a saturday and was attracted by the queue formed. Some early impression includes the queue is formed due to the speed of work, the owners like to take it easy. Ordered the dry mee kia, was given around 5 slices of half sliced prawns, fish cake and some lean pork. Overall i would say not a bad eat but i've had better. The noodles were well cooked but the soup does not pack any punch IMO. My friend ordered prawn noodle from another stall and it was comparable as well. Price way there are standard 2 options, $3 or $4.
