Was waiting to watch despicable me so decided to try out this stall which always seem to be crowded with people during weekends. came by around 515pm so crowd is not there yet. non aircon seating and coffeeshop styled tables. We ordered the 3 signature items the san lou hor fun and the fish meat soup. Wanted to actually request for additional beansprout for the san lou hor fun but was told i need to top up $2 instead. The dish was just $6 but the vege top up is $2 so decided against it. I like the fact that the fish soup is served with thick pieces of fish meat and the soup is thick and flavorful. The san lou hor fun also went went with chilli padi but was served with thinner sliced fish instead. Overall a fantastic eat. water chestnut drink at $1.30 per cup.

More Coconut Milk Please OK Jul 05, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Food Court | Chicken Rice

Was here for a business appointment when the name of the food court caught my eye, Lan Kwai Fong. Hoping to see many HK cuisine but did not see any. Anyway this chicken rice stall caught my eye. Wanted to try their curry chicken even though the signature dish is chicken rice. The menu actually shows it as curry chicken noodle but i requested for rice instead which was obliged by the owner, thumbs up. They also offered me chicken rice instead of the usual plain white rice too.

The chicken curry could have been better, a little too diluted and could have been better if more coconut milk was used, but the chicken parts taste ok, though its apparent the chicken parts have not been cooked in the currey for long, it was nicely biteful and not too fat. The potato was fine as well. Hope they can work on their curry gravy sauce. Will try their chicken rice set next time. My curry chicken set cost $4.

Birthday 50% Off Smile Jul 04, 2013

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant

Came here to utilize my tcc member birthday treat at 50% off. i must first say i hv been holding on to this members card for so long but hv always failed to utilize it. Anyway this outlet is accessible via isetan itself on level 2. I chose a seat near the glass window, great view overlooking the junction of Ion/ck tangs/wheelock/shaw, perfect for people watching and a quiet lunch. Not wanting to waste my 50% offer, i ordered the following
1. almondo frappe ($8.50, nutty and toasted flavours of almond makes up this ice cold frappe, topped with bitter choc chips, not so much to my liking though)
2. wafu beef spaghetti ($20.50, beef slices marinated in wafy dressing with jap soy dressed spahetti. the beef was nice and tender and the spaghetti sauce is similar to cream based type and perfect to go with the pasta and beef, it actually leaves a novce sweet/salty after taste)
3. buffed up buffalo wings (chicken wing tossed in homemade sweet and spicy sauce, fortunately its not too spicy, nice to eat without feeling the oiliness of fried chicken wing.

My bill actually works out to be $41.80 in all, paid just $24.60 since i had the 50% off. Standard svc and gst charges applies.

Bar Seats FTW Smile Jul 02, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

Decided to eat lunch here since there was no queue at all at around 1215pm. Given a counter seat and turn up a good experience to see the sushi chef go about preparing his food. 3 chefs behind the counter which is mainly the raw food section, cooked food kitchen is closed concept. Cleanliness is definitely a priority here as all the chefs were gloved properly. Also got to see how to 40cents salmon soya sauce sushi is prepared. The chef actually have it all prepared in a box container, prior to serving he will torch with with a portable flame from a canister. As usual you can only order 2 pieces per pax. I also ordered the unagi don $12 which is grilled eel with scrambled egg on rice. Comes with a miso soup as well. I counted there are 8 slices of eel given but egg was quite in abundance. The rice went went with the scrambled egg sauce and the eel was perfect. Above $10, your green tea will be foc. Total bill $15.05 including service charge and gst.

Lunch with a view Smile Jul 01, 2013

Categories : European | Restaurant

Was here for business lunch and my first visit as well. There is only 1 lift up with one call button so you can't go wrong. but i must say the lift call mechanics fails, there is no indication that the lift is already called and not repressing is required, almost every group that came by pressed for the lift again. Once u step in, you will be greeted by the host at the counter and behind it are the in-house mini brewery like Paulaner's just that this is at a much higher altitude. The bar counter separates the main dining area with the buffet table which they call Ploughman's Table. There are also bar types of seats which gives you a good overview of the cityscape outside but it can be a little glaring during lunch time i must say. Its fixed menu here by the way with around 8 choices for mains. i did not have a chance to snap a photo of my mains but i ordered the beef burger which includes roasted wagyu striploin sandwich, onion marmalade wholegrain mustard, water cress, fat cut chips and 33.1 lager infused ketchup. The patty was thich, slightly grilled on the outside but still retaining pink within. Pretty good i must say. The buffet spread was also quite decent with salads to sashimi to prawns to cakes and fruits.
