Hidden among a few block of HDB flats in MacPherson, Scrummy Grill & BBQ is offering western cuisine at very affordable prices.

Within a few minutes walk from Tai Seng MRT, the restaurant had a very homely and cosy feel. You would able to see a wall full with pieces of cute drawings. My wife and i enjoyed the decor very much. We really felt like having dinner at home. Mushroom Soup ($3.90) It was a bit watery compared to those normal cream of mushroom soup. However, it had a very strong mushroom flavor. You could see and taste the bits of diced mushrooms and fresh mushrooms while drinking the soup! Tortilla Chips with Salsa Sauce ($2.50) A recommendation by the waiting staff. According to him, the salsa sauce was home made and indeed it was. It was kind of sourish and with a little bit of spiciness. There were bits of diced tomatoes and capsicums in the sauce and it added on to the texture while eating it together with the tortilla chips. Simply appetizing! Basey Salmon ($9.90) 3 sticks of juicy & tender salmon belly which was grilled perfectly. The surface might be a bit charred from the grilling, the salmon still remains its softness and juiciness. It also had a mild taste of herbs. You can choose either Pasta or Pancetta Rice together with the fresh salad as sides. The Pancetta Rice is a must try. The texture was not too soft nor hard. In fact, it was quite chewy and comes with a mild taste of saltiness from the pancetta. Rib Eye Steak ($15.90) Perfectly grilled to my preference (I requested for medium), the rib eye steak was juicy and tender despite of the slightly charred surface. The black pepper sauce was very tasty and compliments the steak (Just that it was a little bit to spicy. So for those who cannot take spicy stuff, you may wish to go for their brown sauce). The sides which consists of boiled vegetables and mashed potato. The mashed potato was soft and had a buttery taste.

Verdict: The food was great and the service was really good (They do not charge GST & service charge!). With the homely decor and surroundings, it is definitely a place to recommend to friends and family!

Heard alot about this french restaurant from my friends, decided to have my dinner there. Savuer Pasta - Mushroom soup - When it was served, i thought it was a cup of cappuccino. However, it really taste good. It has a very thick Mushroom taste. Foie Gras - Although it is quite a small portion , but the taste of it was quite good. It is rich and creamy. Duck Confit - One of their signature dishes. The duck leg was deep fried and served with mashed potato and sauteed mushroom.

Guess what ? The dinner only cost me around $40 for 2 pax!

This is my 2nd time having Astons. It was a few years back when i 1st tried Astons at the stall located in a kopitiam in Hougang. Experience was not that good though. However, my wife managed to convince me to give it a try again. Comes with two generous servings of sides dishes, Macaroni with cheese and mashed potatoes. The cheese was very thick, reminds me of the cheese that normally comes with nachos. The rib eye was nicely grilled and tendered. It was quite juicy too!
Slightly charred, the fish was quite fresh and the sauce that comes with it had a mild herbal taste which goes nicely with the fish.

Overall, it was a good and affordable meal (spent less than $30 for 2) & it does change my opinion on Astons.

After having a good experience with their outlet in Clarke Quay Central, was looking forward to another good meal here.

The ambiance was equally nice in this outlet. Dim lights, cosy seats just that it doesn't have the view of the Singapore River just like the outlet in Central.

Ordered their Escargot and Caesar Salad again. Like my last visit to their central outlet, they were extremely good. Ordered 2 new items that i didn't try before Squid Ink Pasta - Chewy Pasta with bits of diced squid and mushroom. The squid ink added a fresh seafood flavor to the pasta. Beef Stroganov Butter rice - The beef stew was very tasty and the omelette was cooked just nice.

If you are looking for a romantic place to bring your loved one, Ma Maison is the choice - located at 3rd floor of the Central.

The lighting of the restaurant was quite dim. However, there is a table lamp on each table, making it look like a candle light dinner. If you are lucky, you can be seated near to the window whereby the view of the Singapore River is just beside you as you dine.

Caesar Salad: I would say this is one of the best Caesar Salads that I ever had. Fresh lettuce, crunchy tomatoes well mixed with the sauce. Escargots: Served piping hot, the garlic sauce really add on to the dish.Seafood Paella: Generous serving of mussells, squids and prawns.

Overall, it is indeed a place for good food!
