Chinese Pizza OK Oct 14, 2013
Categories : Shanghainese | Dim Sum | Noodles

This place has since expanded to occupy the unit next door, they have also refurnished the entire place with new furnishing, deco etc. Gone were the times where u see uncle sitting at the counter, not sure if he's gone to the bugis outlet instead. Ordered the Chinese pizza $10, xiao long bao dumplings $7, minced pork noodles $5 and hot and sour soup $3. 10% svc charge and 7% gst applies. The pizza was still good, it was so well made that i almost thought its machine produced but i confirmed with the worker that it is still hand made. The hot and sour soup was a tiny little bowl though but was enough to cure that szechuan craving. the minced pork noodle and dumpling were pretty average for me today. Somehow this visit did not excite me as much as before, perhaps I'm expecting more dishes innovation or something

Ramen Fail OK Oct 10, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Fast Food

i wasn't quite aware that they serve ramen so that was a surprised. They also kind of changed their menu layout , only showing up the set meals information instead, thumbs down for this low blow marketing technique. I ordered the beef ramen and also the beef with veg bowl with extra tamago. total bill was around $14. The ramen came with half a tamago but the yolk was way over cooked. The ramen also tasted too much like maggie mee. soup was average as well. The beef bowl was still good though but my up-sized bowl still feels a little small. The supposedly tamago given is actually a soft boil egg so you will mixed it up with yr warm rice. I like. Do remember to get chilli sauce and red pepper powder from them , they dun seem to have the initiative ot ask if you would like to have any condiments. Anyway the outlet definitely is bigger than it seems from the entrance.

Curry Chicken Set OK Sep 12, 2013   (Related Review)

Ah Dong gave out a few offer coupons via punggol monthly publication for residents, ranging from 50% of main course to 10% off total bill to $10 off bill etc. Came by the 2nd time to try this place already, this time round i ordered their curry chicken rice set which cost $9.90 before gst and svc charge. i was first started off with free braised peanuts, did not recall they offer that last time, nice touch. Anything claypot usually works well for me, likewise the curry set. Though the rice was plain with fried shallots sprinkled on top, the curry gravy made up for it. The potatoes feel a little old though, i think the yactually fried it before hand or something coz i could taste a skin layer. The potatos could have been better. At >$10 i was hoping for more actually (i could eat 2 bowls at queensway at the price tongue). But i get the nice cha chan ting ambiance...hope their food quality

Different Menu Daily OK Sep 12, 2013
Categories : Noodles

My view of this place is - there's always surprises. Despite having a different menu for each day, there will occasionally be special offerings like this day where the usual menu was mushroom noodle and fried beehoon, today they had fish soup bee hoon and fried nian gao. The fish soup cost $5 though, i would say its very average, maybe its a trial on whether their recipe appeals, the soup is not sweet enough and the fish meat tasted a little too fried with too much flour. The nian gao cost $1 and not too bad, a nice after lunch snack.

Car Mechanic Garage?  OK Sep 12, 2013

Categories : American | Restaurant | Steaks and Grills | Burgers and Sandwiches

Came by here to consume my group buying voucher. The voucher gets me 1 serving of Food Garage's Ala-Carte BBQ Spare Ribs at only $13.80 instead of $22.25. That is 400-450 grams of BBQ spare ribs served with salad & potato wedges. The interior deco and theme will probably be the first to attract diner's attention, from the spanner set displays on the wall, the large chain ring/gear set, very much resembling of things you find in a auto garage. The cashier is also lined with some antique old cars. There's around 3-4 seats by the window so you overlook the start of Chinatown stretch, pretty nice actually. Back to the food, it was a huge slab served, with potato wedges and chopped salad. Upon the 1st bite, it brought me to comparison to barbacoa at city square mall and cafe cartel, i would rate it better than cafe cartel but losing out slightly to barbacoa. The ribs are well grilled and evenly coated with the bbq sauce. I would grip about the temperature of the food though, preferring it to be warmer instead. The salad was also served with light dressing which definitely beats the plain organic ones with nothing on it. wedges went well with this combination as well.
