Chewy Junior OK Aug 01, 2012
Categories : Desserts and Cakes

Before I actually tried it out, I was wondering why they were called 'chewy'. (Don't every food requires chewing?)
Anyway, they reminded me of donuts as their similarity was both had toppings on them. The only thing different
was that inside them contained fillings too! Either chocolate cream or cream that would oozed out upon biting. The
texture looked rocky but it wasn't that hard. They were indeed chewy, to an extend that after I ate 2, my jaw felt heavy
and lazy to continue the chewing job.

Ice Cream OK Aug 01, 2012
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Curries

I ordered green tea with vanilla soft serve ice cream. Just like from any typical Japanese ice cream dessert outlets, it came with red bean paste and plain chewy dumplings. The addition of the crackers and a strawberry did not help much. Mum ordered the ice cream which had a scope of green tea and black sesame. With 2 ice cream cones sticking out from each side made it looked horrible and difficult to eat. (Having constant worry that either the cones or the ice cream would take a plough
onto the table.) As a strawberry lover, my brother would definitely pick the strawberry one. Entirely soft serve ice cream with strawberry sauce and strawberries, providing a blend of sweet and sour. I found the 2 pocky sticks on it rather lame!

Four Seasons Durians Pancakes OK Aug 01, 2012

Categories : Bakery | Desserts and Cakes | Halal

Had a sudden craving for durians! Who would want to buy the actual durian fruit when there are pancakes available? (Not me) Therefore, I went down to Ang Mo Kio Hub (near my home) and bought some durian puffs and pancakes to munch. The pancakes were prepared on the spot and were slightly crisp. Warm pancakes with chilled durian fillings inside. Yummy!

Buffet! OK Aug 01, 2012

I always go for the chawanmushi during my first round of buffet. I liked the soft smooth egg custard gently going down
my throat. It was light so as to prepare me for heavier dishes after that. I would normally take a few slices of salmon
sashimi too as there were no swordfish. Then I started trying out small portions of other dishes too. I normally do not try them twice unless they were really my liking. Not surprising to have heaps of salmon sashimis piling on my plate too. There were also ramen, fried food and salad, which did not really interest me. After a few rounds, especially salmon sashimis, I decided to go for the desserts. Sponge cakes with cream, and light macaroon's shells (not cookies). Drank a few cups of diluted green tea and ate some fruits to wash away the sweetness from my mouth. The last intake would be the ice-cream. A scoop of green tea (my favourite), black sesame and chocolate chips. I took another serving of green tea ice cream after that.

Carnivore Buffet Smile Aug 12, 2012
Categories : Latin American/South American | Steaks and Grills | Buffet

As I did not eat my breakfast (typical Singaporean style before going for a lunch buffet), I quickly went over to the self-serve section to help myself with some food before I got overly starved. The meat only arrive based on time interval, due to the time needed for grilling.
First slab of meat arrived and I seriously loved it! It was slightly chewy due to a little fats in there, and it was certainly dripping with meaty juices. Beef that I had slight difficulty eating. The meat kept getting stuck in my teeth and prolonged chewing made me rather lazy to keep up with the movement. These plump sausages were a hit among the four of us! I had 3 and I found that it was very mildly spicy. The mutton was one of my favourite too. I enjoyed the natural mutton taste and smell and I ate 3 pieces too! Fats (from the mutton)? They were the ones that contributed to its chewiness and juiciness. You should be prepared to have some fats intake the moment you stepped into carnivore. (Not that they serve fats but meat sure have fats!) Too much meat made our tummy felt rather bloated and uncomfortable, and we gladly invited the acidity and sweetness of the roasted pineapple into them. I could not helped it but to think that the pineapple actually acted as enzymes to break down the meat! We normally thought that watercress soup supposed to be clear and we were so wrong that day. It turned out to be slightly creamy (not exceedingly) and had many bits of watercress in it. I liked it so much that I drank 3 bowls! (I should stop typing out the amount I ate!)
Do not be like me and take so much coleslaw before trying. I regretted it because it was so sour and I could not finish it. I
liked the beetroot as it tasted sweet and sour at the same time. By the way, the baby octopus were really salty that day!
As for the fish, I expected it to be salty, just like the first time I ate at Vivocity. I was so right and I shared a piece with my friend. It was rather tender but had that fishy smell. The bacon with chicken breast finally came. It was always fully taken even before reaching our table (for the first few rounds). To my disappointment, it was horribly hard and had the strong garlicky taste which pricked my tongue constantly. We actually longed for something which tasted bad when the chicken thighs tasted much more heavenly. Anyway, they also have chicken heart upon request.
