Kaiseki and omasake  Smile Jul 26, 2012

I love Kaiseki and Omasake, but too bad it is just so so expensive. The price of the kaiseki set here is considered to be average at $100 per pax.

This was our rather interesting appetizer. I am not sure what it was but the taste was really pleasant and the experience unique.

Our sashimi platter was fantastic! I love the Aji which was in season! Wonderful! All very fresh!

This is also another interesting dish, pretty chewy and delicious.

The cheese lobster. Even my mum who doest eat cheese went home very satisfied with this dish.

Finally our tasty fried rice

Desserts - Yuzu sorbet! As always yuzu adds a refreshing end to the meal

Wonderful meal at Salta! If I am not wrong, Salta is named after an Argentinian city famous for its beef! So I guess this is an argentinian restaurant? Anyway we started our meal with complimentary bread.

Okie the photos are kinda in a reverse order, not sure what happened in the process of uploading.

This was our dessert, poached pear with red wine... i dont fancy poached pear but I must say this was pretty good.

Perfectly grilled beef

I love mine medium rare and the restaurant does it perfectly. Tender and juicy with a wonderful beefy flavour. Marinate was just nice, nice enough not to overpower the natural flavour of the beef. One of the best beef places after Morton. I think this is better than bedrock at somerset.

Tomato soup

The rather crispy fries

Empanadas (Argentinean curry puffs)

Exquisite  Smile Jul 16, 2012

Birthday Treat for my Mum at this relatively new restaurant Tong Le Private Dining. Lovely place, this revolving restaurant took approximately 2 hours to make one revolution. Basically at the end of your meal, you would have completed one revolution and a scenic tour around the Marina Bay Financial Centre.

Food was generally exquisite. Wonderfully executed. Here are some photos from our lunch. I had the chinese set while my mum had the Japanese set. We shared most of our dishes though.

Appetizer from the Japanese set

Tasty bowl of abalone, scallops soup.

Blood tuna

Cod dish

Tempura

This is the lionhead meat ball on top of a slice of chinese yam known as huai shan.

Lovely pieces of sushi. The chutoro and otoro simply melts in your mouth. While I love salmon, nothing beats chutoro and otoro. But of course it is very very expensive.

The last dish before dessert. From the chinese menu - noodles made with fish paste.

In Heaven! Smile Jul 14, 2012

Oomph!

Oomph!

Had an intense craving for Salmon Sashimi, so when I had to wait around for my friends at esplanade, being the pig that I am, I cldnt resist the temptation of a Japanese restaurant beckoning me towards it.
I knew it will sell Salmon sashimi in some form, so when i took the menu I was hunting for the thing that will satisfy me. Mt first order was 2 pieces of salmon sushi (I thought I shall leave some space in my tummy in case my friends wanted to go for supper after that). However when i continued flipping through the pages of the menu, I saw this!
I could hear, I could feel, I could sense that it was staring at me, calling out to me. 'Eat me Eat me!' No choice, I had to cancel my first order and of course, I couldnt disappoint my sixth sense - This is THE ONE!

It was a beautiful sight when the chef presented the bowl of salmon chirashi. Looks almost surreal. I quickly devour what was in my bowl. The pieces of salmon were thick, satisfyingly thick to satisfy even the toughest critic. Each piece was fat, each piece was oozing out with omega 3. Every bite tellls me that I am getting healthier and healthier. Okay I am slightly deluded. I cant actually describe in words how wonderful this bowl is.

The ikura that accompanies this bowl was also marvellous. The chef was very generous in the amount of ikura. Then again I paid $20 of this bowl.

Anyway my only regret is that I ate way way too fast. If only I had slowed down and savour each and every bite. This is what happens when you are too hungry, and the food looks too pleasing.

I will definitely be back, I should bring my mum too, she would appreciate this wonderful bowl as much as I did.

This is very good! very very good! The sushi was very fresh. I guess this is what meals in heaven would be like. The sushi platter cost $59. Our total bill came up to $80 per person as we ordered additional dishes such as the grilled sardines and 2 pieces of salmon belly sushi.

The best amongst the best.. was the Uni. Very fresh, creamy and trust me the taste of good Uni is beyond description. The Ootoro ranks closely in second place. It is the fattiest part of the tuna. Every bite literally sends you to and fro to heaven with the fatty tuna oil bursting in you mouth. Simply delicious.

Anyway some photos for your enjoyment: Happy eyes feasting
