the arena's 6th anniversary :) Smile Sep 04, 2013

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Bars/Lounges

The Arena Singapore celebrated its 6th anniversary this year and they have all the reason to celebrate especially after their $3 million dollar revamp and face lift early last year. They are the biggest R&B, Hip Hop Club in Singapore with daily performances by their resident band " The Arena All Stars" from the United States with DJ sets in between from Big Mike.

And I was there to hang out with Janiqueel on her exclusive guestlist for entry before 12 midnight. It was lots of balloons, a strange squirrel like mascot and some girls dressed in hot fiery red figure hugging spandex giving out lollies midway through the party.

On free flow, the drinks were pretty good and even after midnight when that stopped, we got ourselves two jugs of cranberry vodka for less than $100. A good mix of cran to vodka ratio, we quenched our thirsts well during happy guessing games.

Awesome night out for the girlfriends smile

Blast from the past Smile Sep 04, 2013

Categories : Bakery | Coffeeshop

It's my first visit and I loved how it looked.

Maybe it's these mosaic tiles that stole my heart. It brought me back to the past... days of when I was still a little girl and I used to count the tiny squares that made up the floor tiles. Those marble top tables and highbacked wooden chairs. We still have those at home but in our front yard, no longer indoors. Those days when my great grandma's house was still around, not demolished by some MRT lines... Sigh.

It was late afternoon by the time we got here and there weren't any more kaya toast left for orders. They only had kaya buns which we made orders for.

And apparently these custard tarts were a crowd pleaser too.

So we cleared the shelves. All last ten of them I kid you not.

What's the verdict on them? I liked the buttery tart shell. And that sweet custard that complimented the salty buttered shells which held them. 90 cents a pop and every bit of yum smile

The kaya buns were nice. And that sinful piece of butter slab was just a dripping mess. Meltingly good but watch for drips on wallets and dresses though. You've been warned. smile

Next time i'll be back for a sit-me-down coffee poured onto saucers and drunk the way they should be!

Chocoholics anonymous Smile Sep 03, 2013

I needed some pick-me-up on a hazardous Mmonday night. Of course i picked TCC for my chocolate respite. smile There's always max brenners but my old man friend needed his shot of coffee. So we settled on tcc at citylink mall. it was 8pm on a monday night and it was pretty quiet. I asked for a chocolate recommendation and ended up with this.

Chocolate of Wealth.

Thick chocolate shake with chocolate drizzles complete with whipped cream and crunchy choco balls. It was every bit my kryptonite... so much for weight watching. But this was exactly the chocolate therapy I needed. smile

I was supposed to have dinner with a group of 9, and 6 were already present but we were not allowed to be seated till everyone arrives. While I do understand that they were making the system fair for everyone such that people don't take up seats to talk while waiting for their other friends to arrive, shouldn't they seat the group when the majority is already present? I mean, it's not like we all eat at the same speeds, so I don't see why we can't be seated first.

After we were finally seated, I ordered a Shiromaru Hakata Classic Ramen, a sizeable portion of noodles with a piece of char siu. Char siu was tender and flavourful. The ramen was topped with preserved ginger strips and a side of generous negi, doused in a pork bone broth boiled for four hours at least.

It was simple, classic and filling. smile

Raw! Smile Jun 28, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

This is the real deal, served to us raw in a paper hotpot waiting to be boiled to our preferred level of doneness. This set came with a small bowl of teriyaki chicken don, a side of salmon sashimi, chawanmushi and fruits. This was shared by my mum and I. It was a set filling enough for two people on a light lunch option. We also had a serving of the cream horns. One vanilla one chocolate. I love these. Smooth creamy delights encrusted in a flaky pastry shell. MMM! smile
