BURGERS OK Apr 15, 2013

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant | Burgers and Sandwiches

Was craving for some authentic US burgers so we decided to drive by Fatboy's at Pasir Panjang. There's a public carpark right beside the place so it's not difficult to find a parking space though the shop is facing the big road. There's a bus stop right infront so it is still accessible to reach the place.

As usual, was spoil with choices of the different kinds of burgers served there. Decided to order their "Whimpy" Burger and "The Jamaican Me"

The whimpy burger (beef) is the smaller version of their fat bastard. Specially opt for the honey oat bun instead of the usual sesame bun. Turn out the bun is too hard to bite (haha) and i still prefer the sesame bun in the end. There's also a frying egg and bacon to go with the burger.

I prefer the Jamaican me. Consist of a pork patty, coslaw and bacon. Their patty is very salty though, but it's still moist for the pork patty.

Overall i still prefer swensen's burger compare to fat boy's.

over-priced OK Apr 10, 2013

I was being warned by my personal food nazi that this place serves over-priced thai food, but still I went ahead with a friend who wanted to try the food there. We ordered quite a bit of food - Green curry, tom yum goong, pad thai, minced basil chicken, soft shell crabs. The soft shell crabs is nice, but try to finish it when it is still hot - once it's not it will be very oily. Tom Yum Goong taste refreshing and not that spicy but very over priced for a small bowl of soup. basil chicken is not spicy and a bit salty. My friend had the pad thai and she likes it though.

Total bill came up to nearly $80. Portion is not even for one IMO and I think I will try to avoid this place next time. I had better and cheaper thai food somewhere else.

Oh, and the service was slow too.

Ramen OK Mar 20, 2013

Heard about all the talking about this newly opened Ramen chain from Japan, so I decided to check this out. I had the Aoyama Special Tonkotsu Ramen ($15) after walking for a few rounds deciding which ramen stall i should go to. Not sure if I had make the right choice because I don't really like how this ramen taste. The soup base is oily and salty, though it tasted good on the first sip. The char siew meat is salty too.. Good thing about the ramen is the tamago egg which is cook to perfection - runny egg yolk in the middle.

Bottom line is, I had better ramen at a cheaper price.

ramen play OK Feb 19, 2013

Lunch was at Somerset 313 and we decided to settle down at Ramen Play. The shop wasn't that pack despite it was lunch time so our waiting time was shorten by a bit. Instead of ordering a ramen at a ramen place, I decided to try Pork Katau Toji set with rice. I like how they prepare the dish - the Pork cutlet was prepared in a claypot rather than the usual hot plate we see. The pork is not oily nor soggy, in fact it was still a little crispy despite being dip in with the eggs.

My lunch partner ordered the signature Sanpuo Ramen - don't like the soup as it was oily for me. Though it was flavorful but still, I don't want a natural lip gloss on my lips every time I sip the soup or slurp the noodles.

Service wise was good, the waitresses are attentive to our needs and refilling of the ice water is fast.

cheap lunch in town OK Feb 08, 2013

Having to work in Orchard means the average amount of money you get to spend for your lunch will be... around $4-$5 approximately? That is the minimum you have to spend in order to eat something filling.

Delicacy Food Centre however, offers tze char style menu at affordable price or if you want your food to be serve immediately, you can embrace the long crowd to get your usual chap chye peng (mixed vegs rice) from as low as $2.50. I decided to try it today, so I ordered myself a vegetable, meat and egg dish which total up to $3. Though the food portion is not a huge, but it is filling enough to last me for another few hours.

They do have a daily soup to goes with your rice, at $1 per bowl.
