Have tried their food at Bishan and was happy that their new branch is open at the new extension shopping area of Plaza Singapura. Ambush has always been one of my favorite European restaurant as the food they served is nice and best of all, it is not expensive at all.

Decided to give it a try at their newly opened branch for our dinner. The restaurant is empty when we reached at around 5.45pm, and was bring to our cosy seat for 2. Ordered their signature Ambush Paella, Chicken Schnitzel and Sausage Plate (choice of 2 sausages and starch. Chosen Spicy Pork Sausage, Chicken Cheese Sausage & Rosti)

Due to us ordering far too much food, the waiter took the initiative to join our table so we can eat our food without cramping the plates together. thumbs up for the service!

Ambush Paella ($13.90)

Service with generous serving of paella, together with 2 mussles, 2 fresh prawns, scallop and chunks of sausages. I love their paella as it is cooked with perfection and their seasoning is good and not too salty for my liking.

Chicken Schnitzel

The chicken is a bit dry but I like the crispiness of it. Not oily and seasoning is good too. The mushroom sauce which came with it is nice! will be good if they can serve the sauce separately.

Sausage Plate ($12.90)

Didnt really like how the rosti is cook. Not warm in the centre though it was crispy enough. The spicy pork sausage and chicken cheese taste good and is definitely not something u can buy from supermarket.

Will definitely be going back to try the other dishes from Ambush.

Nice chill out place Smile Nov 21, 2012

Was around Clarke Quay area so we decided to find a place to chill out before heading home. Not the first time visiting Beer Market as this place is kind of like our usual hangout place if we crave a bottle of a nice cold beer.

The concept of Beer Market is simple. If you want to have a beer or 2, just fixed your eyes on the "market stocks dollars" screen for their huge variety of beers cost. They doesn't have a fix price for their beer as they follow the cost stated on the screen during that period of time (cost will automatically refreshed to a new round after 30minutes)

Ordered their signature buffalo wings (spicy, $10) and a bottle Budweisser and Tiger Crystal to go with the spiciness of the wings. Wings there is really good, crispy skin top with thick spicy gooey sauce makes your stomach burn but you will never get enough of it. Thank god we have our beer not I guess we will be spitting out fire.

There's a live band area and sports area cater for different kind of customers. Each night there will be different band performing for the crowd, from 8pm-12am I think.

Beer market is spacious and the servers there are attentive. Currently they are having a promotion of 10% off beer if you are a member of NTUC union. Check out their Monday promo and Hungry Hour (mon-thurs (6pm-8pm) and whole of sunday) for $3 wings/nacho cheese/sausage. $3 for the wings.. I guess it's pretty worthy considering all prices stated there are NETT price.

Definitely not the last time I am going there. lol

Shimmering place for seafood! Smile Nov 19, 2012

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Zi Char

The weather was good for some good and fresh seafood (clay pot crab beehoon especially!) and so the choice is to go to Uncle Leong Seafood for their famous clay pot crab beehoon!

The menu for the day:
1)Shimmering Sand Crab
2)Crab Bee Hoon Soup
3)Fortune Chicken
4)Guiness Pork Ribs
5)'Chye Poh' Fish
6)Chinese Spinach With Eggs
7)Signature Deep Fried Beancurd

My favorite among all the dishes gotta be the Shimmering Crab. The buttery sauce is so good and goes well with my rice. The taste is a little peppery but not too strong to cover the crab taste. The crab itself is fresh and huge. Will be back again to try the different cooking style of their crabs!

The soup base of the crab bee hoon is awesome too. The soup base has soak in the sweetness taste of the crab and it is super addictive. We finished the soup and there's still leftover of the beehoon, so you know how good it is.

I am a person who is afraid of fishy taste but the fish serve in Uncle Leong is so fresh and tender, different from what is served outside with very thick fishy smell.

Overall, I feel that all the dishes served that night is really up to how a tze char restaurant standard should have. Even though the location is quite far from me but thankfully the restaurant is near to the LRT station (riviera) and is within 5-10mins walking time.

There's indoor and alfresco seats available but it is advisable to call up for reservations to avoid long waiting time as the restaurant filled up quite fast. The servers there are polite (at least those I met) and are quite prompt to your request.

Definitely will be back again for more seafood!

Satisfying Japanese Meal Smile Oct 11, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi | Kids-Friendly

We skipped our usual buffet selections from Suki and decided to go for their ala carte menu. Ordered their Wagyu Beef shabu shabu, Teriyaki Salmon Don, Chawanmushi and Bacon Enoki wrap.

I like the soup based of the beef shabu shabu. Not too salty nor bland. Service was good as we requested to top up the soup and the waitress brought out a big bowl of soup, more than enough for the 2 of us.

Teriyaki Salmon Don was not bad. Rice portion was enough for a pax to be completely full.

Chawanmushi and the bacon enoki wrap tasted normal, but thank god the bacon wasnt oily not dry.

We also had a few pieces of the sushi on their sushi belt.

It was a good meal though and we escape the bloated-ness of having their buffet menu.

Definitely will be going back for their cheap, affordable Japanese food.

Dimsum in Trolley! Smile Sep 26, 2012

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Teochew | Dim Sum | Seafood

Finally we got the chance to went to this nice dim sum buffet place in toa payoh, right beside TPY's national library.

The concept of this buffet is similar to those in Hong Kong - servers will be pushing trolley filled with different variety of dim sum and you can choose which one you want and definitely not wasting any food (to make sure u dont take extra serving and not finishing it!)

the hi-tea buffet starts from 3pm till 5pm. We reached at about 3.30pm, and missed out a few trolley items. advice is to reach at 3pm sharp cos once they finished one round of the food, they will start to push out other variety of the dimsum...

the aunties pushing the trolley kept giving us food, service wise was good as we managed to eat many varieties of dimsum.

The standard of the dimsum here is better than those I had try. the prawn filling inside the hargow is huge and the prawns tasted crunchy enough.

personal favourite is definitely the "liu sha bao" in green. the filling inside the bao literally ooze out (hot!). taste so heavenly smile

Definitely going back for their hi-tea buffet again!
