Marmalade pantry Smile Jul 22, 2013

My friends has been asking me to drop by town to try this place for lunch and so I went to finally meet up with her to try this place. The environment is quite ok and a little cozy though, but the dining area is too open, in my opinion. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara and was quite satisfied with it. the poached egg is done well, with runny yolk that thickens the carbonara sauce. There are also bits of bacon to make the dish more salty and crunchy. wanted to have their cupcake but I was too full to have dessert, guess I will be back to try another main and also their cupcakes!

Spending per head: Approximately $20(Lunch)

Nana's green tea Smile Jul 22, 2013

Finally nana's green tea open its branch in Singapore after I have heard how good it is in Japan. I went with my friends to have and try their green tea dessert. Honestly the desserts look amazingly tempting and I couldn't make up my choice. Finally decided to order the Green Tea Shira Parfait and the presentation is pretty. The dessert consists of the green tea ice cream, red bean paste scoop, cereals for the crunchiness and topped up with whipping cream. The dessert tasted like how it is presented - nice! It is not too sweet and I really like how the matcha flavor is. Not too overpowering but at the same time fragrant. Enjoyed a lot having that!

Sliced fish beehoon Smile Jul 22, 2013

Categories : Zi Char

Was quite tired of ordering tze cha dishes so I decided to order something to try. wasn't feeling full and craving for something like and soupy, so I.ordered the fish slice bee hoon. it was surprisingly good though it tasted really healthy and light. The fish slices are fresh too and they uses red snapper fish meat (if I'm not wrong). one bad thing about the dish is that the portion is very small and costs $5.

The place is crowded during lunch peak hours so be prepare to wait for an empty seat for about 10 minutes or so.

Crystal jade xiao long bao Cry Jul 22, 2013

Categories : Shanghainese | Dim Sum | Noodles

Xiao long bao is one of the dishes I will order when I visit Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao. However I am not sure if I will continue to so so after this time. The standard used to be quite high and I enjoy myself a lot with the Xiao Long Bao but now I feel that the standard fell by quite a fair bit. The fillings inside are dry and what used to be dripping hot "soup" in the Xiao Long Bao has been replaced but a few drops of oil. The skin is not as thin as before and the meat is mushy and tasted stale. A very disappointing meal I must say.

Mouth Restaurant  Smile Jul 22, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

So I heard about the famous 6 assorted flavors har gow from Mouth Restaurant. I guess the concept was inspired from the assorted flavors of the xiao long bao. The 6 beautifully colored har gow makes the whole dish very appetizing. The flavors were carrot, squid ink, pumpkin, spinach and sweet potato. My favorite is the pumpkin one as it tasted really good with a pinch of sweetness from the pumpkin. The dish also comes with a XO sauce in the middle which enhances the whole haw gow flavor. The restaurant can get crowded during weekends so its recommended to make a reservation prior to visit.
