Supper under the moonlight OK Jul 28, 2013

Categories : Hawker Centre

Since there isn't any place near the area that offer food to eat, we decided to drop by the hawker centre by makansutra just next to esplanade after our movie at marina square. I wanted something soupy but there isn't many options available there so I decided to get fried kway tiao instead to share. I also bought some bbq chicken wings and I find it quite pricey at a steep price of $1.40 per pc and a maximum order of 3 pcs is required. The chicken wings are small in size and really dont worth the price. The kway tiao tasted alright but a bit oily. didn't finish the whole plate as we got this very oily feel in our stomach. the place is majority filled by tourists and its quite rare to see a local visiting there except if you got no choice.

Bland dessert Cry Jul 28, 2013

Dessert was settled at the dessert stall in plaza sing's kopitiam. ordered the ice jelly with aloe vera and there's only one word to describe it - tasteless. I guess the stall people forgotten to add the sugar syrup on the shaved ice because all I can taste is ice and ice water. no sweetness at all. squeeze the lime in and it become sour lime water. the ice jelly itself is tasteless and bland too. the only sweetness comes from the aloe Vera bits but too bad the portion is too little to sweeten the whole thing. a very bad dessert indeed.

Great grill chicken leg Smile Jul 28, 2013

The queue wasn't as scary as it is during peak lunch and dinner hours so I got my piping hot food within 5 minutes. My favorite is definitely the grilled chicken leg because of its special sweet barbecue sauce which they dip the chicken leg to after it's being grilled. the huge chicken leg is full of meat at every bite and its so satisfying. the only downside of the dish is there is not enough curry gravy on the rice and their special ikan bilis chili sauce has reached its bottom and not being refilled. Love the chili though.

Very nice dessert Smile Jul 28, 2013

Was wondering why there isn't any reviews here as I thought this is a hidden gem in vivo city. We notice this shop long ago when it first started business and went back again because we like the taste of it. squirrel bites actually have 2 kinds of dessert there - shaved ice and fried flat donut bread (I don't know the correct word to it). Since now there's a promotion of having this 2 kind of desserts for $6.50, we decided to go for it. For the shaved ice we had mango with aloe vera and the fried bread we had the strawberry with chocolate nuts. the shaved ice is very tasty and sweetness is just nice. topped up with mango and aloe vera bits and condense milk, it was gone within minutes. the fried bread is prepared after u have order so its hot when served. sprinkled with sugar and the flavor u ordered, it is crispy and sweet and not too oily. The whole experience is once again a very pleasant one!

Steamboat! Smile Jul 28, 2013
Categories : Restaurant | Kids-Friendly

So it was around 10pm and my partner and I decided impromptu to have steamboat for our very dinner (cum supper). initial choice was to go crystal jade's at holland village since they offer the option for late night steamboat. But it was fully book so we search from Google and saw this - xian pin guo. called up and despite the late hour, the lady boss is all smiley and reserve a place for us. when we reach we were quite surprise that we are the only customer at 10.30pm. Well instead of giving us black face, the lady boss and her helper are still friendly and was fast to bring out our orders. The prawns we asked for are very fresh. been long since I had fresh prawns in a steamboat buffet place haha. they also have cooked food items such as their signature prawn with very nice mushroom sauce, chicken nuggets, drumlets (well marinated) and etc. for the soup broth we chose the herbal and tom yum soup. both soup tasted good esp the tom yum which is sour and spicy. definitely will be going back again!

Spending per head: Approximately $24
