Nonya Dumpling Smile May 13, 2011

Joo chiat traditional dumpling is pretty famous and they have a range of rice dumplings which includes nonya dumpling ($2.20), salted dumpling with egg yolk ($3), salted dumpling ($2.20), Cantonese style dumplings with beans ($3)
The nonya dumpling is pretty big and it is not very oily. The glutinous rice is very well steamed and fragrant with a distinct taste. The filling is very generous and they are all seasoned minced lean pork and a few pieces of sliced winter melon cubes. There is no fatty pork which is unhealthy and for this reason I liked the dumpling here a lot.

Chicken Rice Smile May 05, 2011

With the rising prices of food everywhere, this stall in Tampines is selling chicken rice at $1.50 per serving. I think this is the cheapest chicken rice in tampines and I think the standard is of reasonable quality and the serving is the same as those $3 per plate in foodcourt. The roasted chicken taste better than the steamed chicken. The chicken is not oily and smooth. Coupled with the soya sauce and sesame oil, this makes a good lunch or dinner.

Ultimate Meal Smile Apr 29, 2011

Ultimate meal indeed! Definitely yummy, definitely filling and definitely worth it. It consists of a mushroom chicken burger, chicken, mashed potato and drink.

I like the mushroom sauce of the burger especially. Very thick and strongly flavored sauce, with pieces of mushrooms. Chicken is very crispy and juicy, though quite oily. Meat is very tender. I ordered the crispy (spicy) chicken, and it was quite spicy. However, I prefer the tenderness of the crispy chicken meat to the original one. By the time I finished the burger and chicken, I was too full to eat the mashed potato, and thus gave it to my friend.

breakfast Smile Apr 22, 2011

A nice yummy breakfast certainly starts the day right. I ordered the $2.50 breakfast, which is well worth the money. Changed the drink to iced green tea for an extra 35 cents. I ate it right away, and the muffin was hot, with a little crispiness on the muffin. The cheese has melted onto the muffin itself, and was delicious.

Sagu Melaka Smile Apr 20, 2011

Bengawan Solo serves one of the best kuehs in Singapore and it presents quite a variety of snacks to choose from for breakfast, tea or snacks. Sagu Melaka is one of my favourite and I like it when it is served chill. In terms of appearance, I think it will have already captured your attention with the three layers of colours and you are able to see the many pieces of sago. The brown layer taste like Sugar Melaka to me. Additionally, it has that chewy texture but it does not make your jaw tired. In terms of sweetness, I think it is reasonable, which will not make one sick of it. If I need to pick something bad, I will say the price of $0.90 a piece is a little costly.
