Popiah Smile May 12, 2011

Popiah is the signature dish of this stall and how can one give it a miss when you patronises it. The popiah is a healthy dish as it has turnip and carrot, egg, preserved sausage and crushed peanut. Together with the sweet sauce, this makes up the filling of the popiah. The skin is a very important element of the popiah and it will turn away customer if it is not good. The one from Qiji is smooth and tender but it does not break apart when you pick it up.

Even people who does not like vegetables will love this food. Wait no more, come and give it a try.

Malay rice Smile May 11, 2011

The canteen here is open to public, and the rice from this stall is very value for money. I was there slightly after lunch hours, and there was not much choices left.

I had wanted to order the curry veg, but there was not much cabbage left. The auntie very kindly ask if I want the normal cabbage instead and she will drizzle some curry sauce on it. The long beans with beancurd and tampeh is another of my favorite too.

Spending per head: Approximately $2

Sausage McMuffin Breakfast Smile May 11, 2011

This is a very value for money breakfast set from McDonald's, with a sausage mcmuffin and a cup of coffee or tea at only $2.50. The bread is very tender, fresh and well toasted. The meat patty is well marinated and is not to the extent of succulent but it is not too dry as well. I think the quality of McDonald's is well known as all other outlets serve very similar and there is no discrepancy in the taste. The piece of cheese in the burger just enhances the taste of this breakfast. What a good day to start off with this breakfast.

KFC 2 piece chicken meal Smile May 10, 2011

Categories : Fast Food | Halal

Currently there is this promotion for 2 pieces chicken meal at $5.50 valid till 24 May 2011 which I think is value for money. I picked 2 pieces of crispy chicken, and I changed the whipped potato to a medium coleslaw which incurred an addition of $0.95.

The crispy chicken did not disappoint me. It was a little spicy and was straight from the kitchen as it was still pretty hot when I ate it. The chicken was tender and the skin was very crispy. I was so tempted to finish all the skin but I resisted as it was not very healthy. I wanted the 2 pieces of chicken to be thigh but the staff mentioned there have to be a mix.

The coleslaw from KFC is one of the best around and I think it is refreshing after eating the deep fried chicken. Afterall, it is good and healthy to have some vegetables in your meal.

I was craving for the coconut pie from KFC but sad to say they no longer sell pies due to the sale of Portugese egg tarts now.

Jollibean Beancurd Smile May 10, 2011

Categories : Singaporean

I am an advocate of healthy eating as I think illness can result from what one consumes. As such, Jollibean product fits the bill as they provide healthy soya products such as soya bean and soya beancurd. I love the soya beancurd as they are smooth, soft and disintegrates in your mouth, this makes you crave for more. Further, beancurd is good for the complexion. I think Jollibean does not compromise on its product quality because I have tried the beancurd for a few outlets and they all taste as good. The service from the staff is clean and friendly. Must give it a try if you have not.
