Desserts Delights Smile Jul 09, 2013

Once you stepped into Lime, you will be greeted with a very Zen like furnishing with a lovely potpourri of modern and traditional design. It's very relaxing with loads of natural lighting and definitely a great place for a chill weekend with friends and family. The thing that stands out here are the desserts. In particularly the Key Lime pie. The lime filling was soft and subtle and sweet! Topped off with sinful whipped cream that has a nice burnt finishing to it. Pair this with a cup of coffee!smile

Here is the dessert spread at the buffet table. Another dessert worth mentioning is the chocolate tart (it's on the plate) which is very rich and I love the crust! smile

Cake at Kki Smile Jun 20, 2013

This is the Basil milk chocolate with Bitter Orange cake. The top part has some gelatin orange jelly adds a bit of tang which matches well with the smooth chocolate taste of the cake. And infused into the cake is this subtle basil flavour! It doesn't taste too strong so it adds that element of surprise and was quite refreshing. Not your average chocolate cake for sure!

My friends and I love the food at Paradise Dynasty. A good choice if you're in the mood for Chinese food. We came here for a CNY dinner gathering and to Lo Hei. Even though there was a lot of people in the queue, their table turnaround is quite fast. We ordered quite a few dishes to share but the ones worth mentioning are their signature xiao long bao, their dong bo rou (fatty pork), their steam egg dish with crab (I forgot the chinese name but is the one with the egg in the middle) and their red bean pancakes.

Taste of Paradise Smile Jan 18, 2013

Had a lovely dinner at Paradise Dynasty. I really like this place because the ambience is lovely and soothing. Lights are dim enough, chairs are comfy and overall a good place to have a nice meal with friends. Plus I love the tea here!

Seafood fried rice. This portion can fill 4 small bowls nicely so quite a good dish to share. Fragrant and generously peppered with prawns. Yum!

This is the sour and spicy noodle. This is a HUGE bowl of noodles. There were 4 of us and we couldn't finish this. The broth was nice and had a good tang to it due to the sze chuan so quite refreshing to the palate. Particularly suitable for rainy days.

Their famous xiao long baos. They are just little dumplings of pure deliciousness. The hot broth inside each dumpling is really tasty so don't waste them by spilling!

A cold dish of drunken chicken. The sauce has a strong punch of alcohol taste and the chicken was tender and juicy. Nice!

Love this dish! Pork belly!!! It's fatty so can be very gelat if eaten too much. For sharing.

Can't remember the name of this dish but is a prawn dish. I think it's sweet and sour prawn. It's surprisingly lovely with the mix of nuts, prawns and onions. We couldn't stop popping some into our mouth as we talk!

Dessert time! We love this red bean pancakes so much we ordered TWO of them! Hot and crispy on the outside and sweet sweet red bean paste on the inside. Delicious!

Lastly we had the mango pudding. It's a nice compliment to the hot red bean paste dessert but nothing too special about it.

Ochre-tastic  Smile Nov 07, 2013

Categories : Italian | European | Restaurant | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

This was my second restaurant I visited for Restaurant Week last month. I've always walked past this place but never tried the food there before so I thought this was a good time to sample the food. My 3 course meal cost about $25 which was super worth it! smile

Came here during lunch and there it was almost empty save for a couple at another corner. The place was quite nice and bright and has a sophisticated feel when you step in.

Seems to be an open bar area and a TV which probably makes this a good place during soccer season. One thing I have to note, because this restaurant is located beside loads of greenery, there were quite a few mosquito buzzing around. I got bitten a few times! I would choose a table further away from the door if possible.

First up was some complimentary olive bread. The bread was warm, chewy and delightful to dip into the olive oil and vinegar. We wish we have a bigger stomach space to ask for another basket but we didn't want to spoil our appetite for the meal itself (who makes themselves full on bread before getting to the mains?)

The first course was the Oven-roasted Tomato Soup with Herb Oil. The soup was tangy, light and a fantastic start to the meal! You really taste the robust flavours of the tomato and the earthier flavours of the herb balances out the sour tang of the tomatoes. Save some of the bread to dip in this soup!

My main dish was the Boneless Chicken Thigh, Potato Puree, Mixed Vegetables and Au Jus. Now when I read the words 'Au Jus' it racked up major points as Au Jus are super tasty concentrated gravy made from the natural oil and flavouring from the dish. The chicken was so tender and juicy! And that Au Jus was very nice too! I did like the medley of vegetables as they were cooked to the right texture (not too mushy or crunchy) and I love the potato puree. I need more of that puree! tongue
Highly recommend this dish. It's safe and simple but because it is done right, it's comfort food after a hard day at work.

Lastly was the Lemon Cheesecake with Chocolate Crumble. I'm slightly disappointed with the dessert. The presentation was beautiful and looks like a galaxy system with the fruits as planet. But the cheesecake was a little too dense for my liking hence it felt a little dry as I ate it. The crumble was quite sticky and I didn't enjoy it too much. Nice to look at but I would give this dessert a skip.

Overall, I enjoy the ambiance of the place and the starter and main dish were winners so I would come back to try other items. I reckon this place would be quite romantic at night so if you're in town and you feel like Italian food, why not give Ochre a go?
