Mini Beef Burgers! Smile Jan 28, 2013

Big Mouth Bites

Big Mouth Bites

I was having a staycation (yay!) at Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa that day and decided to check out Chili's for lunch since Resorts World was only a short walk away (read more about my staycation on my blog www.jerjerjer.com).

Well, Chili’s has been around for a while already but it was my first time eating there (can you believe it?). I decided to order their Big Mouth Bites ($23) burgers which comes with 4 mini beef burgers, fries and their signature onion rings. The beef patty was rather tender and juicy but having to wolf down 4 mini burgers myself was a little too much for me. Their onion rings were quite unique too. It’s made up of finely sliced onions coated with crispy batter and it almost resembles McDonald’s crispy fries. I also got myself a Mojito (Vodka + Strawberry soda).. hehe, drinking in the day rocks! =D

Chicken Burger Rocks! Smile Jan 28, 2013

Chicken Burger

Chicken Burger

I usually go for the chicken tenders whenever I eat at Popeyes but decided to try something different today, so I ordered a Chicken Burger set instead ($8.50) which comes with a regular-sized drink and your choice of one of their signature sides. The burger came with a huge fried chicken patty that was juicy and tender (although a little bit on the oily side). The Cajun Fries were very flavourful but I still prefer their signature "biscuit". Good thing that there is an outlet at Orchard Xchange (between ION and Wisma) which is real convenient and easily accessible!

International Breakfast Buffet

International Breakfast Buffet

We booked a Heritage Suite at Mövenpick Sentosa for a 3D2N staycation and the room came with a complimentary breakfast-for-2 and also all-day refreshments + evening cocktails at the Crystal Lounge. The restaurant is brightly lit and overlooks the patio outside where there are lots of green and you can also hear the monorail zooming past every now and then.

There are quite a few buffet stations for breakfast. They have a local section with fried rice, dim sum and porridge; a cereal section with chocolate coco pops!; a savory section with sausages, potatoes and mushrooms; a pastry and bakery section with danish, fresh breads and cakes; they also have an egg station that has a chef to make an omelette for you, or you can grab the read-made sunny side ups or hard-boiled eggs, french toasts, pancakes, bacon, cheeses and fruits.

The buffet breakfast normally costs $40 per head but comes with free flow of fresh juices, coffee and TWG tea of various blends. Overall, the breakfast was satisfying and I particularly like the Muesli Yoghurt! It has texture like oats but it’s cold and loaded with lots of fresh fruits like apricot, blueberries, strawberries and a gooseberry too. The muesli is not that sweet and the sour fruits make it quite a refreshing (and healthy) morning treat!

BlackBall Signature Smile Jan 24, 2013

BlackBall Signature

BlackBall Signature

I've been hearing a lot about BlackBall's Taiwanese desserts but this is my first time trying it out. I ordered the BlackBall Signature ($4.90) which is their specialty chin chow / grass jelly with a generous sampling of all the various toppings for you to try out. You can even choose between, cold, hot, warm or icy. I decided to go for the icy one since it was a rather hot day. Out of all the extra toppings that was included, I preferred the yam ball and golden sweet potato. The dessert wasn't too sweet as well which is good - definitely very refreshing on a hot evening. tongue

Sinful Char Kway Teow Smile Jan 24, 2013

Char Kway Teow

Char Kway Teow

Thye Hong always has a long queue during peak hour lunchtime but seeing not many people in the queue today I decided to try out their Char Kway Teow ($4.50). After making my order, I still had to wait 10 - 15 min for the chefs to cook the Char Kway Teow. It seems that they cook it in batches at a time, so you have a lot of people standing around waiting for the same batch. I'm not much of a Char Kway Teow fan, but the one here is quite good - especially the dark sweet sauce that they use. It also came with a good portion of cockles, which I don't eat.
