Country Chicken Pie

Country Chicken Pie

I don't usually eat at Starbucks because their food seems rather overpriced, but since I needed a quick breakfast, I ordered myself a Country Chicken Pie ($5.60). The pastry crust was extremely crumbly and buttery. The filling was also surprisingly yummy - it was filled with cubes of chicken meat, carrots, peas, potatoes in a creamy mushroom sauce. Definitely an awesome breakfast to start my day.

Salmon On A Holiday! Smile Jan 30, 2013

Categories : American

I pass by this branch every single day on my way to the Starbucks outlet at Liat Towers and usually see a few tourists and expats having their breakfast there in the wee hours of the morning. Since I was unusually early this morning, I decided to stop by Coffee Club to check out what they have to offer for Breakfast! And look at what I found...
Salmon On A Holiday

Salmon On A Holiday

Salmon On A Holiday! Yes, that's exactly what they call it. Not only does the name sound adorable, the plating of the dish was colourful with a mixture of various textures and flavours. The breakfast set costs $10.20 but if you would prefer another drink instead of the regular black coffee, you just need to add $1.30. I ordered a Caffe Latte which came with a 2-tone colour differentiation between the espresso coffee and the milk..

The smoked salmon was nothing short of awesome. And when paired with the slightly sweet scrambled eggs, sour tomatoes, and bitter wild rocket - it's like a taste explosion in your mouth! The mushrooms were done up quite nice too, although it was a little bit on the dry side. I particularly liked the chewy and crunchy bagel that it was served on, filled with sesame seeds on top.

Even though it was 7am in the morning, the staff who served me was very alert and attentive. They poured me a glass of water without being asked to and was also very prompt with my order. The restaurant is alfresco, so I probably would not eat here in the afternoons but it's definitely worth a second visit for breakfast again. Overall, I was super duper satisfied with my breakfast and it was an awesome start to the day for me! smile

Fairly new outlet at Wheelock Smile Jan 30, 2013

Spinelli recently opened a new outlet at Wheelock Place basement. I've always enjoyed their SPIN coffees which is basically an ice-blended coffee, but have never tried out their food before. Today, I decided to have a nice and quiet lunch here.

I ordered a Chicken Pot Pie which comes with salad on the side and also a Cookie Chip Spin. The chicken pot pie was quite good. There were big chunks of potato inside and the chicken was also quite tender. The crust of the pie was also crumbly enough. Their coffee always packs a good punch and the Cookie Chip spin is one of their most awesome beverages you should definitely give a try! Although it was peak hour lunchtime on a weekday, I guess not many people want to have a pie for lunch so I practically had the entire café to myself. mad

Special Steak Mix Set

Special Steak Mix Set

I met up with a friend for dinner tonight (he also happens to be quite a well-known food blogger) and he introduced me to this Japanese restaurant at Bugis+. It's not an area that I usually frequent so I hardly get to eat at the new restaurants there. Yayoiken is located on the ground floor of Bugis+ and sells pretty great Japanese sets. I ordered the Special Mix Steak Set ($19.90) which comes with Beef, Chicken, Bacon and a Hamburg Steak with potatoes, bean sprouts, a salad with sesame dressing and Miso Soup too.

The meats here are of quite good quality for the price that you pay, especially the beef. I particularly enjoyed the fried potato cubes which were crispy on the outside, yet soft and mashy on the inside. The staff were very attentive to our needs and friendly as well. I'll definitely love to re-visit this restaurant when I'm in the Bugis area again.

My Favourite Pizza Place Smile Jan 20, 2013

Pepperoni Pizza

Pepperoni Pizza

This is one of my favourite restaurants to have good pizza at. It's tucked away in Forum which is a rather quiet mall and has a good selection of gourmet pizzas to choose from. We ordered a Pepperoni Pizza that comes with lots of mushrooms and cheese.
Avocado Chicken Wrap

Avocado Chicken Wrap

It was also our first time trying their Chicken Avocado wrap thingie that is deep-fried to a crisp - the creamy texture of the avocado went really well with the crispy exterior and the chicken cubes. Overall, this is a really nice place to hang out and chill over some pizzas.
