BBQ chicken Cry Jun 22, 2011
Categories : Korean | Food Court | Brunch

The portion is considered small, even for a food junction pricing. I ordered BBQ chicken at various occassion before in other places, and yes, i do know that in a food court, a smaller round hot plate would be used instead of the oval longer alternative. However, the chicken did not even fill 3/4 of the hotplate. It is way too expensive to be priced at $5.

The chicken tasted normal, and because it was not in direct contact with the hotplate, there was none of the "BBQ" slightly burnt taste, which is another disappointment. The rice and soup were pretty average. And i still have more than half the bowl of rice left when i am done with the chicken. sad

I guess i wont be returning back to this stall.

Just for the ice cream? Don't  Cry Jun 18, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Italian | Japanese | Fusion | Restaurant

I wanted to get the largest ice cream just for the fun of it. That was when i first started eating it. It becomes quite embarrassing after a while, when EVERY single person who walked by will simply stare at us. Or rather at the bowl of ice cream. Or maybe its both. So, i didnt exactly like the location of the shop. Everyone will just walked by and know what we are having. It is so weird.

Paying $40 for this gigantic bowl of ice-cream is not exactly worth it. Not when everything inside tasted like those tub of King's ice cream that will get one so sick of it after a scoop. There are fruits to go with, in the bid to help us achieve the impossible task of finishing the whole bowl.

The only thing that i like about it is the cornflakes inside. Cornflakes always taste nice with ice cream, especially when the flakes are still crispy.

Even when shared among 5, it is still too much to finish. This was practically our lunch plus dinner, cause none of us can entertain the idea of even more food going into our stomach after this.

butter herb prawn  Cry Jun 16, 2011
Categories : Restaurant | Ice Cream and Gelato | Pasta | Steaks and Grills

Somehow, i found my way back to Swensen for its lunch promotion. I had the butter herb prawn this time round, which is the first time i have tried something out of my comfort zone. I wondered why did i bothered to try other food that I have never seen other reviewed or tried before.

And here goes the verdict. The whole dish was bad. I waited a long time for my dish, which only came out after my friends had finish their burgers by more than half and i was starving. The portion of rice is extremely small for one. And i figured that my dish took so long because they had forgotten about my order; all the prawns looked burnt. It is supposed to be "succulent", not dry. The shell of the prawns had curl back in, making it hard to eat. Guess i wont be straying away from my usual burger when i go swensen anytime soon.

Jap buffet  Cry May 28, 2011
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Chinese Soup | Sushi/Sashimi | Kids-Friendly

The first thing that came to mind whenever someone mentioned about Japanese buffet would be the salmon sashimi. The sashimi offered in this restaurant is fresh, but i preferred the pan-fried one. It taste sweeter than the raw ones.

Service is slow, and some items run out fast though there were not a lot of customers in the shop. My group was in fact, the only ones in the shop that particular afternoon. So, be sure to order items like the asparagus wrapped with bacon immediately after stepping into the shop. Some of the food items took half an hour to come, which is considered as extremely slow. This would be the first buffet that i went for that i would have the whole table cleared several times.

The fried rice was surprisingly good, and though it is a no-no to have rice at buffet, each of us actually ordered a plate. Tried the steamboat too, but i did not like the soup. It was too plain for my liking.

The chawamushi is smooth and not too watery, which i must say is one of the few things in the shop that came fast and i actually liked.

Cheesy baked rice Cry Mar 18, 2011
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant

I have been craving for hong kong food lately. As a fan of cheese, I gave this baked rice a try, thinking that nothing can go too wrong with cheese.

When the rice arrived, I was wowed by the amount of cheese on it. It is certainly more than some other hong kong restaurants. It has tomato sauce underneath the cheese, which taste pretty much like the pasta tomato sauce base.

The first few mouthful were good and delicious. I'm not sure what kind of cheese did they use but towards the end, when the food starts to cold, the cheese turns hard and not-so-nice anymore. Probably they could change the type of cheese they use for a better outcome.
