Snacks Smile Jul 12, 2013

Old chang kee is always good for a snack in between meal times as they sell a lot of finger food. Despite the queue when I was there, the staff behind the counter get the crowd moving fast, and the whole buying process probably takes less than 5 minutes.

I had the cheese dogs and fried squid. Cheese dogs is average and tasted just like those bought off supermarket and credits none to the stall itself. The squid however, is deep fried till crispy on the outside, but still remains soft and chewy on the inside. A new batch was just out when I was in the queue, so it was still hot when I took the first bite!

Icy Dessert  OK Jul 11, 2013

I ordered the ice jelly, and it is a huge bowl of dessert, but mostly of ice and sugar syrup. The dessert served is of inconsistent amount, and varies greatly between customers. The person in front of my had 3 full scoop of jelly, while I only had some scrap lumps covered mostly by canned cocktail fruits. For the price paid ($2.30), the amount given is reasonable, but I wish for the auntie to be fairer. The dessert taste is average, as usual, the ice jelly taste good with the lime on it.

Lamb Shank Smile Jul 11, 2013

Poulet, as the name suggest, is a french restaurant that specialized in chicken. Thus, I was a bit surprised when the waitress recommended the lamb shank to me.

The food was served in an elegant plate, very well garnished and presented. Their lamb shank does not disappoint too. The lamb shank is baked till tender, and extremely easy to tear off from the bone. And after what I supposed would be long hours of cooking, the lamb is full of flavor. Portion is reasonably sized, leaving me just satisfied without the need of dessert.

Lots of peanuts Smile Jul 11, 2013

Rojak is a popular local dish, stranger to none. It seems relatively easy to make, just dump all the ingredients together, and yet there are few places that can really get me a plate of good rojak. There is quite a long queue when i went at tea time, and like most typical Singaporeans, i join in a queue when i see one!

The speed at which the food is served is slow, explaining the long queue. But I have to admit that they supply good quality food. I would prefer more you tiao and fried stuff but there are more vegetables inside. They are generous with their sauce, which is sweet and flavorful, and comes with lots and lots of peanuts. A must try for rojak and peanuts lover.

Soft swiss roll Smile Jul 09, 2013

I was walking by when i saw the poster outside, recommended by some chinese variety show. Thus, i decided to go and try their signature swiss roll. They have quite a few combination of flavors. I wanted a chocolate flavored roll, but it comes with banana, which i dont really like. Thus, i ended up with the mango and peach roll ($1.20) Their cake is very soft, and together with the cream, it seems to melt in your mouth, nice! The cake is not very sweet too smile Nice for an afternoon snack!
