Quarter Chicken Smile Jul 30, 2013
Categories : Portuguese | Steaks and Grills

I had the quarter chicken, mild, and i specially requested for thigh meat, which will not be too dry after grilling. I chose the three bean salad and potato salad for the 2 sides. I was told that i could actually choose from the premium sides, which i was not aware of through all my trips to nando. The three bean salad was, just beans, as expected, and pretty bland. I think both the side dishes would go perfectly well with the hot sauce, to neutralize the spiciness. The sauce can be requested.

Raspberry angel foodcake Cry Jul 30, 2013

I always wanted to try out the cakes on display; everyone of them is a sight to behold. Raspberry angel foodcake, what a pretty name for a cake. And the cake itself is a darling too, but only on the surface.

This shop is very good at presentation, but seriously bad at making cakes. This is one of the driest and hardest cake that i have tasted. Not dry and dense enough to be a cookie, not moist and soft enough to be a cake! I left more than half the cake untouched when i left the shop, and i only ordered tea together with this cake.

Hot plate western food OK Jul 30, 2013

Categories : Food Court | Steaks and Grills

During NUS school term break, the canteen is very empty and theres no queue at any of the stalls at all. I ordered the set consist of a chicken chop, pasta and potato salad on a hot plate for $5.90. It is possible to request a change to mash potato as well. Overall, the taste is average. The pasta is just stir fry with olive oil, and not much of a taste to it. The chicken is served with teriyaki sauce, but other than the sauce it is pretty bland and tough.

Salmon feast? Cry Jul 30, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi | Kids-Friendly

The Salmon Zukushi Set ($24) looks awesome on picture, but it is too bad that the staff at sakae sushi is unable to reproduce even 50% similarity to the picture. The set that was presented to me look like a mess.

Salmon slices, on one hand, is reasonably fresh. But again, the difference with the picture on menu is too huge! I was tricked into believing thick long slices of sashimi will be served, but i ended up lumps of short mess.

For the price and quality, i might as well get from convenient sushi bars outside.

Teriyaki Chicken Smile Jul 29, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Fast Food

This place is quite peaceful, even at lunch time when other places are packed with customers. I had the teriyaki chicken bowl, and unlike my usual experience, this is quite a big bowl. The amount of vegetable is more than half the surface of the bowl, and covered over by the chicken. I like the way that the vegetable was boiled but yet, the sweetness remains. The rice is soft and chewy, and would taste even better with extra sauce, which the person at the counter forgets to give despite my reminder when placing the order.
