Chinese New Year Meal Smile Mar 22, 2011

My boss brought us to this restaurant for the first time ever. It is a pretty rundown place. But very well known for their Xin Hua food.

We ordered a set for 10 people. The bittergourd in ice and drunken prawns were simply delicious.

I would not recommend this place if you want to try nice Putien food in a nice ambience. I have been to at least 3 Putien restaurants around Singapore, trying to find the best service, food and location.

My best selection is the one in Marina Square. This Kitchener branch is probably their anchorship branch. Hence the old furniture and place.

I went there with my husband and son. As we were familiar with the food in Dian Xiao Er, we ordered our usual. Roast duck in herbal gravy and mogolian ribs.

Service was excellent. It was very clean and food serving was very fast. I like their baby chair which was very clean and new.
We ate there at around 5.30pm which the dinner crowd have not arrived yet. Definitely a recommended place for family and gatherings.

My boss brought us for late CNY luncheon.

We ordered a set for 6 people. Of all the food, I love their chilled bitter gourd and prawns in herbal soup the most.
It is worth the price as it was very delectable. I would not recommend if you are intending to dine in a quiet and private place though.

The crowd was quite noisy and service is just average. The only draw is the new ambience and the great tasting food.

My colleagues and I went there for dinner while shopping in NEX.
We ate their Yunnan Mee Sua. Their 麻辣鱼片火锅 is simply delicious!
口水鸡 is delicious too!

3 of us ordered these items and it was extremely filling. It is worth to go back and try again. You have to skip the lunch and dinner hour as it can be pretty crowded and rowdy.

Our family of 5 went for buffet dinner there. My mom had DBS 1-for-1 deal.
Service is average. But buffet is good.
I love their satay and cakes.
They have delicious black pepper crabs.
Their roast duck is nice too.

I aint' good in describing the food. But if you want to have a nice ambience to enjoy buffet without the hussle and bustle, Fern Tree Cafe is the place to go..

It is very worth the buffet if you have some sort of discount. I am not a big eater so I never managed to eat my worth. lol
If you are a big eater, you can consider eating there as it is rather remote and you can enjoy the music from the next door lounge.
