Date : 2012-11-13
Time of visit : 8pm
What/Where : Pan Bakeries Specialties @ Bedok Interchange Food Centre
What we had : Chwee Kueh
Average cost/pax : $1
Ambience : Crowded/noisy. This place has always been the same since I first stepped here in the 90s.This place has provided hundreds of residents in the area their daily meals and take-aways.Old drunk uncles chit chatting happily away with their pals and the hawkers themselves. Some may find this place a little "dirty" but it's more because of the lack of "manpower" to clean it up as people come, dine, and go real quick. It's quite hot at times just like the other hawker centres.
Service : Prompt delivery upon payment.Friendly auntie.
Portion : Fresh, steaming, soft, fragrant, generous portion and priced cheap! Chwee Kueh is one of my childhood meals and this is one of the best ones I've ever tasted, they turn 16 years old soon (Date of birth on their sign board). The "chai poh" is very fine/appetizing and not very oily like the usual ones and goes well with the perfectly steamed chwee kueh that does not have the dried up rims around the edges like most stalls do! Truly one of our favourites!
Location : It's at Bedok Interchange. Super convenient. As of the current date , the area is under heavy renovation especially the car park. I believe they're building new bigger ones. So there's limited lots.
What's good in particular : Perfect tasting/priced comfort food.
What's bad in particular : None!

Running some bridal shop errands along Tanjong Pagar, after a long morning I decided to reward myself with a sweet treat. I ordered A Waffle with Banana and Salted Caramel.

I opted for a topping of Vanilla Ice Cream which was smooth and velvety to pair off with my waffle which was beautifully press-toasted golden brown. It was crispy and had a buttery taste with a contrasting fluffy texture on the inside. Freshly sliced bananas placed tactfully around the waffles topped with the melting vanilla ice cream and sweet & salty caramel sauce and all these on top of a exquisite looking floral plate makes the dessert look really amazing like it was out of a dessert magazine centre fold!

After the water and fireworks, we went to SG Seafood Republic as I had a craving for crabs.
We were greeted by a beautiful building front and a friendly server who had us seated and took our orders of Fried Ee Mian , Kailan and Chilli Crab and Fried Man Tou (Buns).

Glossy baby kailan was fresh and crunchy, simply stir fried with garlic which makes it aromatic.

Fried Ee Mian had 100% wok hei taste , generous portions which fed both of us well. Shredded leeks and chai sim lightens the dish and overall the taste was very flavourful on its own , but ready to serve as perfect companion to the next limelight dish.

Though cooked in tangy spicy chilli and tomato sauces , the crab’s meat still retains its natural sweetness and the meat portion was a lot ! (p.s : at the time of this scenario, no clean fingers were available to snap the crabs) The crispy yet fluffy buns , like an edible delicious sponge , soaks up all the scrumptious chilli crab sauce like peanut butter jam and bread, but better.
Considerately , we were given disposable aprons to prevent staining of our clothes.

Overall what we ordered complimented each other dishes and tasted its maximum potential when eaten together rather than on its own.

High tea on a weekend afternoon with my sisters, I decided to dine at this spacious and elegant looking restaurant after their Weekend Afternoon Tea Buffet caught my attention.

They have so many assorted breads that is soft and fluffy that I don’t even know where should I begin from! Buttery and flaky croissant with salty smoked salmon; Scone is really tasty and crumbly tasted even better with cream and strawberry jam. I give this place 10/10 for their high tea.
