not up to standard Cry May 20, 2011

Categories : Food Court

I had this for lunch around two weeks back. As I was craving for dry noodles, it naturally lead me to this stall. Besides selling the mini wok noodle (xiao wan man), it also sells laksa, lor mee etc. I got the mini wok noodle, which comes with the mini wok filled with an egg, sliced meat and minced meat and also fishcakes. Some mini wok noodles that I have tried before also included pig liver, but not this stall though. For some reason, the noodles that day tasted very noodley (as in the noodle taste is still very strong). I think it has not been blanched in the hot water for long enough. Also, the mushrooms are a too overwhelmingly well seasoned. Not too up to standard in my opinion.

HK chinese fare Cry May 15, 2011
Categories : Chinese

This was sometime back in June in 2010. The group of us decided on Man Jia Le because the other places were quite crowded and we just wanted to find a place to rest our feet after a long day of shopping. Besides rice and noodles, it also sells milk teas and french toasts.

Since all of us are first timers, we didn't really know what is good. I had the Hong Kong Happy Bowl, since has a thumbs up beside the dish. My friends choose the Pork Chop rice and the Gong Zhai Mian. My dish came with an egg as well. The dish lower than average in my opinion. The fat proportion of the minced meat is far too high and it was too overly seasoned. Thumbs down for my dish. My friend eating the pork chop rice thought hers wasn't that nice as well as it was also too salty for her. Looks like once is enough for all of us.

try other stalls next time Cry May 14, 2011

Categories : Chinese | Coffeeshop | Rice

This is my first time trying out this stall. As it is quite late, there aren't many choices of dishes left. I ended up ordering the steamed meat pie, black sauce chicken and fried beancurd with leeks. The meat pie is quite salty which is not to my liking. The chicken is ok, but there are too many onions and chicken skin instead of chicken meat. Overall, not too well done, perhaps its late and the dishes are limited, but I think I will settle for other food next time.

mini egg tart Cry May 05, 2011

Categories : Bakery

My mum got this for our breakfast while she was doing her groceries buying at the market. 6 petite egg tarts enclosed - these are sure to get the attention of any young picky eater at home. This 6 costs $2. The big egg tarts costs $0.70 each and $2 if you buy three. Anyway, it is great on the appearance but lacking on the substance. The biscuit crust is far too thick, with the result that the egg custard is only 25% of the whole egg tart. I would not recommend this.

Pizza: bread and little fillings Cry Apr 18, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Pasta | Halal

We got this free personal pan pizza from the lays promotion (two packets of chips for one pizza) last wednesday. The last day for redemption is on the 15th of this month, so we thought we should redeem it last wednesday as part of our lunch.

Anyway, this is the hawaiian pizza. I have to be frank and say Pizzahut's standards have really dropped a lot since last time. The portion of bread to ingredients is really getting wider... such that the ingredients are really quite pathetic. If not because it is free, I certainly will not get it at $7.80. I could easily do a replica of it at home, with much more ingredients and definitely at a lower price.
