Delicious Chicken Pho Smile Nov 26, 2014

Categories : Vietnamese

I met my friend for dinner after work at suntec city. We haven’t been there since the renovation so we walked around for dining places that catches our fancy. In the end, we settled for the economic and healthy choice – Nam Nam Noodle Bar. It is a Vietnamese casual restaurant with no ++ on their prices. I ordered the chicken pho which costs $7.90 if I am not wrong. There are also beef pho and mixed beef pho for those who love red meat. The service is very fast too, we got our order within 5minutes of ordering.
The noodles come in one big bowl and with lime slice which you can choose to squeeze the juice into the soup for added flavour . The chicken meat is tender and soft even though it is the chicken breast. Moreover, the meat comes in a reasonable portion. The pho is in strands of smaller width but it is firm to the hold. Some rice noodles disintegrate easily when you hold it with chopsticks, but not the rice noodles here which is a plus point. I will definitely recommend this place for healthy and affordable eating.

Salted Caramel Surprise  Smile Nov 26, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Bakery

It was my brother’s birthday and we got a cake from Breadtalk to celebrate. There had been new additions to their cake offerings and we had gotten the new flavours, the Salted Caramel Surprise cake. The cake costs $28.80. The cake is good enough for 8 – 10 people for the regular size. The cake has two layers and the exterior has also some walnuts to add on to the bite. I would say the cake is quite unique tasting. The cream is flavoured with caramel and as it is quite evenly spread out, the caramel taste is not overpowering and it went really well with the slightly moist layers of cake. The cream is also not too heavy tasting and it is smooth and light, making the cake moist without being heavy. Overall, I would say this is the cake to get if you like unique flavours.

yummy egg rice Smile Jan 29, 2014

Categories : Japanese

I happened to chance by this restaurant and saw a huge signboard advertising this as the no.1 gyoza specialist in Japan. I was attracted by the signboard and decide to have my lunch with my colleagues there. I ordered the Fuwatoro Chicken Tenshin Han and gyoza set, which comes with 6 pieces of gyoza. The dish looks like a very large egg dome as seen. The taste however, is really great. The egg is very fluffy and moist and airy and it is really flavourful. The rice hidden inside the egg is also tasty as the broth is quite rich and the rice had soaked up the flavours of the broth easily. The egg is really the star as it is just so tasty, unknowingly, I ate everything up in no time. It is actually very filling as there is a lot of rice, and I left some of the rice untouched because I still had the gyoza. To me, I felt the gyoza was just normal though. If I were to come back, it would definitely be for the fluffy egg rice!

Sweet treat Smile Jan 25, 2014

Categories : Italian | Ice Cream and Gelato

After my dinner at the kopitiam, I still had some room for desserts and Gelateria Italia it is for my dessert! Since there are three of us, we decide to just order a large size which allows us to choose three scoops of ice cream in total. The large cup costs $9.90. There are a lot of flavours available and the lovely thing about this stall is that we can view all the different ice creams available in the counter in front of us. We are also allowed to sample flavours which we are interested in. In the end, we ordered the Pistachio which is one of their best sellers, the Passion fruit sorbet and the Rum flavour. The Pistachio flavour seems to be an acquired taste, for me, few bites are ok, but any more than that, I will feel that it isn’t that nice anymore. However, my other two friends loved it. The taste is quite nutty. I think I still prefer my pistachios to taste salty than sweet. The Passion fruit sorbet is on the sourish sweet side as all sorbets are and do note that there are bits of seed(?) that is naturally present in the fruit in the sorbet. The seeds are bitter so it is quite a hassle eating it if you want to not eat the seeds. Overall, I like the rum best, though it is not very strong on alcoholic taste. For $9.90, the price is a little on the expensive side but shared among three, it is worth it since you get to try three different scoop flavours.

Yong Tau Foo  Smile Jan 25, 2014

Yong Tau Foo

Yong Tau Foo

I went to the Kopitiam at Centrepoint for my dinner after my shopping. I ordered from the yong tau foo stall as it is a much healthier choice. I got the mandatory six items and a bowl of rice which costs $4.20 (60cents for each item and 60cents for the rice). I got egg, dried beancurd, ladyfinger, enoki mushrooms and a double serving of bittergourd. I requested for my yong tau foo to be dry so that I could mix the chilli and the sweet sauce into the yong tau foo items easily. The yong tau foo is quite normal as the taste is similar to what you can get at other yong tau foo stalls since the fish paste tsate generic. However, I really loved their chilli as it is quite spicy and savoury. Mixing it with the sweet sauce gives a sweet, spicy and salty taste which is delicious with the non-fried items.
