Lady M ! Smile Jan 22, 2014

It is all the rage when Lady M opened in Singapore as it is their first overseas store. I didn't manage to visit the store at Marina Square and I made it a point to visit their second outlet at Fullerton last week when I happened to be at the area. This outlet's ambience is very good if you manage to the the seats near the window like I did. The furniture is spick and span as well and white furniture gives a feeling of class. Anyway, I just had to try their signature, the mille crepe in original flavour. This cake is made up of layers and layers of paper-thin handmade crêpes with light pastry cream in between layer. I felt very light while typing this as it is really a very painstakenly put together cake with all the layers. The taste did not disappoint. The cake is very light and just sweet enough and it is really a delight. It did not feel too heavy even with cream on each layer. It is one of the better cakes that I have ever had. I believe this is a good place to catch with with your girlfriends while enjoying the lovely cakes!

Economic Rice Smile Jan 22, 2014

It is after 8pm on a weekday night and there are not many dishes left from the mixed vegetable rice stall since they will not cook any more new dishes as it is near their closing time. I ordered the french beans, egg tofu and sliced potatoes. I find that the dishes sold here are quite reasonably priced. My dish costs $2.50. I enjoyed all the dishes that I ordered, though for the french beans, it is quite greasy as it is cooked in quite a fair bit of oil. The egg tofu is delicious as well as it is fried on the exterior and the accompanying gravy was very savoury and delicious with the white rice. The potato slices are sliced thickly but not too hard. It is cooked with minced meat which gives it slightly more fragrance. I certainly wouldn't mind reordering these dishes again as they are simple yet tasty.

Mr Avocado  Smile Jan 22, 2014

Avocado Drink

Avocado Drink

Personally, I think one of the selling points of this hawker centre is the avocado milkshake from Mr Avocado and the claypot laksa. It is quite common to see many tables having the large cup of avocado juice on their table. I myself ordered one cup to savour. This time around, I felt that the taste is much better. The previous time I ordered it for takeaway, the avocado taste was masked by the coconut milk but this time around, the taste is much more balanced. It is fresh, rich and thick. I felt it could be a little less sweet but nonetheless it is alright. I felt quite full drinking it so perhaps you can share if you had a heavy meal, though I guess one is always tempted to finished it all by themselves, heavy meal or not.

Simple and tasty prata Smile Jan 20, 2014

I think this was quite some time back, around a few months ago. I was with my friend at dover and we went for prata for our breakfast. I ordered one piece of plain prata which costs 80cents if I remember correctly. My friend also ordered one plain prata and we got another egg prata to share between us. The prata was prepared on the spot which ensures that the prata was hot and crispy. The prata is not too doughy and it is actually quite springy to the bite. The plain prata has a little saltish taste to it so I could just eat it plain but of course it is better with curry. The curry is quite fragrant and I think there are different types of curry as well. I am not sure what curry is served to us but it is tasty which is all that matters. Between the egg prata and plain prata, the plain prata wins my vote as I like the unalterated original taste of the prata. For 80 cents, it is a simple and satisfying meal.

Mango Pomelo Herbal Jelly Smile Jan 20, 2014

This is an eatery which sells desserts as well as other food like wanton noodles and dim sum. They are famous for the mango desserts and most of their cold desserts have some element of mango in them. Their desserts are priced from around $4.50 onwards. Besides the cold desserts, they also sell hot desserts like sesame paste and almond paste. Since they are famous for mango desserts, I decided to order the Mango Pomelo Herbal Jelly. The herbal jelly comes in one mold and it is placed among the mango/strawberry puree and topped with some pomelo. It looks rather nice and I enjoy the taste. Herbal jelly is nourishing for the body and as its taste is slightly better, the sweetness from the puree is just nice to pair with the jelly so that the jelly is not too hard to consume, though for me, I didn't find the herbal jelly to be bitter. The only thing which I think can be better improved is that the serving of pomelo could have been more as I think it adds a refreshing taste to the dessert.
