Duck noodles Smile Jan 25, 2014

Categories : Food Court

I met up with my friend for lunch at 100 AM. This mall has quite a lot of eateries and we are looking for a more budget lunch which makes Kou Fu our choice. I saw Yu Kee and I have not had duck noodles for some time, hence I decided to buy a bowl of duck noodles. You can choose the noodles you like and I went for the mee kia which is the thin egg noodle. A rich gravy is then poured over the noodles and topped with slices of duck meat. There are also other ingredients like beansprouts and fishcake. I love the gravy. It is not too thick or overly salty and it is just right when mixed in together with the noodles. The slices of duck are tender and moist as well. If you are a chilli person, there are two choices of chilli, a belachan mix and a more watery chilli mix. The belachan chilli was great with the noodles. Definitely a meal that I would order again!

Lady M ! Smile Jan 22, 2014

It is all the rage when Lady M opened in Singapore as it is their first overseas store. I didn't manage to visit the store at Marina Square and I made it a point to visit their second outlet at Fullerton last week when I happened to be at the area. This outlet's ambience is very good if you manage to the the seats near the window like I did. The furniture is spick and span as well and white furniture gives a feeling of class. Anyway, I just had to try their signature, the mille crepe in original flavour. This cake is made up of layers and layers of paper-thin handmade crêpes with light pastry cream in between layer. I felt very light while typing this as it is really a very painstakenly put together cake with all the layers. The taste did not disappoint. The cake is very light and just sweet enough and it is really a delight. It did not feel too heavy even with cream on each layer. It is one of the better cakes that I have ever had. I believe this is a good place to catch with with your girlfriends while enjoying the lovely cakes!

Strawberry Shortcake  OK Jan 22, 2014

It was my friend's birthday and we decided to get her a cake from Rive Gauche Patisserie since she had mentioned that she fancies their cakes. We got her the Strawberry Shortcake since she is a fan of strawberries. The cake costs $28. This is the smallest serving size which is just right for us since we had 6 people in total. The strawberry shortcake is quite a creamy cake as the outer layer of the cake is made of cream and in between each strawberry is blops of fresh cream. The cake itself is vanilla sponge cake. There are two layers of vanilla sponge cake, separated by layers of cream. The layers of cream in between the cake also has sliced strawberries. I would say the cake is rather nice if you enjoy a creamy cake. The vanilla sponge is more dry than spongy which is quite a pity to me since I preferred a cake with a moist texture. The cream is very light and it doesn't feel too heavy or indulgent, so one can definitely finish the cake without any problem. Even though it is quite alright, but I didn't feel as though it is exceptionally good. That said, I will like to try their signature chocolate cake next time.

Economic Rice Smile Jan 22, 2014

It is after 8pm on a weekday night and there are not many dishes left from the mixed vegetable rice stall since they will not cook any more new dishes as it is near their closing time. I ordered the french beans, egg tofu and sliced potatoes. I find that the dishes sold here are quite reasonably priced. My dish costs $2.50. I enjoyed all the dishes that I ordered, though for the french beans, it is quite greasy as it is cooked in quite a fair bit of oil. The egg tofu is delicious as well as it is fried on the exterior and the accompanying gravy was very savoury and delicious with the white rice. The potato slices are sliced thickly but not too hard. It is cooked with minced meat which gives it slightly more fragrance. I certainly wouldn't mind reordering these dishes again as they are simple yet tasty.

Noodles OK Jan 22, 2014

I had my dinner at HDB Hub with my parents. We had originally wanted to have dim sum at Tim Ho Wan, but the queue was simply too long so we gave up and settled for hawker food instead. I chose to have noodles since it is already dinner time and I wanted something that is less filling. I ordered from this noodles stall as it had quite a few different types of noodles like mini wok as well. I ordered the fried dumpling noodles for $4. The fried dumplings are quite fresh as it is still warm when I ate it and the dumpling skin is really crispy. The filling is also a little moist and the dumpling filling is adequately seasoned. I could just enjoy the taste of the dumpling on its own without having to dip it in the sauce. The noodles are alright. I mixed it up with some cut chilli as I enjoy spicy food and I find that it helps to spice up the otherwise normal noodles.
