Very filling dinner Smile Dec 26, 2012

I would strongly recommend all the students to try their student mix and match meal - very worth it!!

I went down with my friends last week for dinner and we all got our mix and match meal - a baked pasta/rice with drinks and ice cream for ~ 9 bucks! For the baked rice/pasta, you can choose an ingredient and I would recommend scrambled eggs. The toppings are very good and its 1 for 1 for the students meal - the grilled fish is strongly recommended as the servings are not bad and the fish is delicious. Other toppings include chicken, beef, minced beef, salmon etc.

The meal is very cheesy and you can choose from a variety of sauces. Overall its really filling and I still felt full after a few hours. We also tried the minced beef cheese fries which is really a lot of fries and is delicious!

Not a bad place just that its rather ulu (deep in the kopitiam) so not many people go there. Its a social enterprise after all so please support it! smile

Brunch OK Dec 26, 2012

Categories : Burgers and Sandwiches

My friends and I went down to relish for brunch the other day and we decided to try their burgers after the waiter strongly recommended it. We ordered the Ram-lee burger, Cheese bacon burger and portobello tofu burger. The cheese bacon burger is so-so, not say very special and the beef patty is also not very impressive given the price. The Ram-lee burger's sauce is interesting. The portobello tofu burger is rather pathetic and there is only a piece of bread at the base.

However, the dessert was superb. It was the main reason why I brought my friends there. The strawberry cheesecake is really unique as its not like the traditional cheesecake. Very special and the cheese is delicious with the cream and fresh strawberry sauce. However, its rather expensive (9.80++) and the serving is a tad too small. However, no choice haha because its really very nice.

Overall I would recommend the dessert. The restaurant is a bit too expensive and the waiters' service not very good. And the burgers (which is supposed to be their special) not very impressive either.

Al-Azhar Prata and Naan OK Dec 26, 2012

Categories : Indian | Malay | Coffeeshop | Halal

During my last visit to Al-Azhar, my friends and I tried their flavoured pratas - cheese/onion, egg prata and plain prata. We also tried their mutton naan. The pratas are not bad, my friend pointed out that they are not too oily but the flavoured ones does not have too strong flavours. For e.g. the cheese prata didnt have a very strong cheese taste and for a while we wondered what was that. Otherwise the pratas are good, crispy.

The mutton naan is so-so. The mutton has a very strong smell and not very nice. The teh tarik we ordered is also too thick and sweet.

Overall the place is a good hang out and there are really a lot of choices on what to eat.
